Default Do you EAT YOUR EXERCISE????

Okay Ladies question:

So we all count calories, points, portions or something to base your daily intake on. Then we each encourage one another to exercise, to burn some calories, to get our heart rates up. We know this is the healthy thing to do. Alot of time (some of us all the time) we exercise but then eat someething extra because our workout allowed it. Now is it better to workout and leave those extra calories hanging around or are we simply working out to infact eat? The next question is how much does this affect our weightloss? I know for me if I exercise really hard if I don't eat a little more my weight tends to be static. I have also read so many times that after a workout you should replenish the body with protein. Now usually when I eat more it is meat and veggies and so on. Occassionally (like tonight) i use my extra for sweets (this is not typical but depending on how I feel).

What are your opinions on this? And do you ladies do in your situations?

I don't usually eat for exercising...mostly its more of something simple like having a chocolate protein shake...but I don't usually use my exercise points for that...

I eat mine. Always have. I know that if I eat a net of 1500-1600 calories a day the weight will come off at a decent rate. If I'm under that and not hungry I don't worry about it, if I'm under and am hungry I'll eat it.

I usually end up eating dinner after I exercise anyway so I'm not hungry after exercising. I don't eat my exercise though. I still try to stay at 1600 calories or less per day no matter if I exercise or not.

For me, it depends on if I am very hungry or not. My mom always told me that it was pointless eating back the calories you burn exercising because it makes your workout all for nothing. I'm not sure how much truth is in that statement, but it makes me not want to eat back those calories I burn during exercise!

Normally I don't. Since I do WW & earn extra points I usually don't even journal the points like they weren't there.

I don't think if you eat them that it makes your workout all for nothing though. You are still increasing your metabolism, building muscle, making your heart healthier, etc.

Way to go on your awesome workout today cake!!!

Thanks for the input guys. I just wonder about this. If I am not hungry then obviously I am not gonna eat ( I count pts) but If I have a point left over and earned idk say, 4 activity pts I may use 2 to eat a Skinny Cow Ice cream and still have the 3 left over. But If I am actually HUNGRY I would use those pts for grapes or a banana or something...

I read my body, I work out usually in the mid morning after I have let my breakfast sit for about an hour or two. 98% of the time after my workout I am hungry first because its lunch time anyway but also because I have worked out.

I normally have to eat my points that I create by working out or else my body does this crazy "OMG I AM STARVING-RED ALERT" mode. I actually feel my body change into this mode its weird. I can guarantee just about every time its happened I have gained weight that week. I have to eat "real" food too, it cant just be like ice cream. I divide up the points that I created on the rest of the days meals. So maybe instead of having just sandwich and soup for lunch, Ill have sandwich, soup, popcorn, or a yogurt or change my bread out for a high point bread. For dinner I might have an extra serving of what I made for dinner. etc.

If you seem stagnant, try the way I do it and see if it helps. I can't guarantee it will work but you just might be telling your body to starve on accident.

I heard that this is the reasoning on the of the weight loss shows I watched one day called Fat Free Brides. The nutritionist had to beat some guy over the head about it because he wasn't following instructions. He thought it didn't make sense so he wasn't doing it and she had to put her foot down.

Yeah, I usually don't because on WW I just use my flex points. Although when my mom started eating her activity points her weightloss picked up. She exercises 6 times a week though and her body obviously needed those extra calories(she only gets 18pts on WW!).

I don't eat anything extra for exercising. I stick with 1500 calories whether or not I exercise. The only thing I'll change is if I have a intense workout planned, I'll massage my meals/snacks so that I can have a more substantial snack before the workout, but it is still within my calorie alotment.
