Snacking

  • I have no problem adhering to a diet when it comes to a meal plan. However, it's snacking that kills me! I snack when I'm not even hungry. Anybody have any suggestions that will help me break this habit???
  • Write it down!

Even if you don't keep a food journal, if you find yourself trying to eat something when you're not hungry, it helps dissuade you. I write "I'm not hungry, but I'm still going to eat (insert food name)." Usually if I see it in writing, I realize how un-smart it is to eat something I don't need, and can keep myself from eating.

Plus, if it's just a craving that will pass, this definitely takes a little time - not enough for the craving to pass completely, but at least it gets your mind off of actually eating and on to reasons that you shouldn't.
  • I have the same problem!
I do that too! Just about the only way I can avoid snacking is by eating 3 meals and one snack daily. It seems like the more I eat during the morning hours the more I'll eat the rest of the day. If I just eat something small, I can keep myself under control.
I have the problem of eating when I'm not hungry too!!!

You could also try just drinking flavored water, broth, diet soda, etc.. so that you'll get the flavor of food but not the calories.
    Hope that helps a bit!!!
