Default My christmas week

This is another one of those long rants that I like to spout randomly, so you are warned

So first off, most of you know I work at a video game store called Game Crazy and that my boss is a jerk. For those of you that don't, now you know!

I have grown really tired of working retail, it's a lot of unnecessary stress, at least in sales. This week I worked Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. That's Christmas Eve, Christmas, and the day after Christmas too (return day, dun dun dun) So on Sunday I'm working when I get a call from my boss saying "I'm going to be sick all week *hangs up*"

So the rest of us are furious because our boss just called out "sick" for the busiest week of the year so he can catch a flight to Chicago to be with his family. He scheduled everyone to cover his shifts ahead of time, which we found out later. You know, he's the only one with a family. So any who...

The entire week I get people yelling at me because I'm sold out of Wii's...you know, cause it's my fault they waited 2 days before Christmas to get their gifts. I've had people in my face all week, screaming, and when I get to work on Christmas day there's a line of people at the door, there just to shop, they're in no hurry, it's not last minute shopping, they're just there.

So a man comes up to me and shows me a DS game (small cartridges in small boxes for a hand held system) and complains that it didn't come with a booklet. So I explained to him that he bought it used, they're not guaranteed to come with booklets, or even boxes. So he throws it at me...

Yup...throws it at me, and says he doesn't want it any more. So now I have to explain that are used sales are final to a man twice my size who throws video games at me and he balls up his fist to swing at me. Really? I mean really you're going to get this irate about a used game not having a booklet? honestly people...

So I tell him that I think we have another box out on the floor, it might have a booklet. So I go find it and thankfully it did, and handed it to the guy. So suddenly he's all smiles and goes "oh thank you" and leaves.

WHAT THE ****?! People are insane. That's what I learned from retail. Any way, so my boss has the gall to text me "merry Christmas" which further puts me out. Then yesterday...man, people are crazy, again.

You know what though? Today is the one year anniversary of dating my boyfriend so it's all ok. I finally had a day off on Saturday, I had some time to cool down, I've completely gone off my diet though. Being so stressed and being around all those sweets was not a good combination. I didn't do -terrible- but I still feel bad about not being stronger.

There. I feel better. I love you girls

Wow... that sucks. I used to work at a really, really busy Tim Hortons (for those of you who may not know, it's the cheapest coffee shop in canada, and there's one of every corner, sometimes right across the street from each other) It's not exactly retail... but man oh man.... if there's one more grain of sugar in their coffee than they wanted, they were having a hissy fit. I remember one time, busiest day of the week, this woman gets to the counter with her son, and her son says "I WANT CHOCOLTE MOMMY" and she clearly says "NO YOU CAN'T HAVE CHOCOLATE, may I please get a ten PLAIN timbits?" so I give her ten plain, not even two minutes later, she was back at the counter, and the timbits? oh... they're FLYING directly for me. Yeh... she chucked them at me and says "I CLEARLY ASKED YOU FOR CHOCOLATE TIMBITS." I wrongfully said "I CLEARLY heard you say to your son that he couldn't have chocolate, but I'll give you another box, just because." People in line that had witnessed her screaming child before, and then her screaming after, were all laughing at her. It was almost worth it.

I don't know why I felt like sharing that, 5am and nothing better to do I suppose.

Oh I haaaate retail. My first job was Gadzooks (back when they had guy and girl clothes!), and I dunno if you have this where you live, but tax free weekend is just as horrible as the entire Christmas shopping season! Clothes flying everywhere, grouchy people, tweens tearing the store up...Def not worth the 6 dollars or so an hour!

People are absolutely crazy. Yeah, I worked at Old Navy for about a month. Screw retail. I'm learning now that when someone is being a d*** to an employee, I like to put my two cents in. Tehehe. I mean, someone has to stick up for these people. But yeah, if you need me to come to your store and chew some people out, I can do that. Then I'll write you a really nice comment card!

Wow!! I worked retail at j.crew and LOVED it!! Maybe it's just because I love the clothes and I had fun people with me, but it wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be, even during Christmas season!!

Though I did have some VERY snotty, VERY uptight, VERY righteous people upset at me every once in a while...I just sort of laughed at them in my head. Nothing makes mad people madder than a calm person smiling back, I suppose, haha!
