Default Feeling down and need some support please...

Hello. I'm new to 3FC. I've been feeling down the past few days and need someone to kick me in my rear and tell me I can't give up! I started my new life on 10/23. I dropped 6 pounds and several inches within the first 2 weeks or so. The past week I have been slowly gaining weight and I don't know why! The only thing that has changed is I increased my workouts. And it's not TOM. My brain tells me "this too shall pass" but my body is telling me what's the point of working out if the scale is going up? My husband tries to help by telling me I'm probably just builing muscle, and deep down I know he may be right, but I won't feel better until that scale starts going down again.

Hey Thunder Thighs!!!! I usually feel like how you feel once a week or so. I started in September and starting loosing, but then fell off the wagon a couple of times and am right where I started. BUT, I have almost completed the C25K and am really enjoying running...so I'm just focuing on that for now...but of course...still trying to lose weight.

It really is all about the food. Someone on here told me that it is 90% food 10% exercise. I really do believe that as well. Do your have you food in check? Are you counting points or calories? Which ever it is, sit down and really measure out what you are putting into your body and keep track of it ALL. You might be surprised at something you think is less then what it is.

Keep going!!! Don't quit. All quitting will do is make that scale go up!

I know this! Thanks everyone, I'm feeling better. Thanks to google I might have an answer. I'm gearing up for ovulation and read that some women experience a little water weight gain during that time. So for now I'll put away the scale like I do during TOM and blame the weight gain on ovulation. I am counting calories (approx 1900 daily) and foodwise I am right on track. I write everything down in the morning and total it all up before I even eat.

Hey there Thunder!!! JamieJo is SO right! It's all about food!! GOOD for you for keeping track and writing it down!! And good for you for putting that scale away!!

I've read before that when you're in the process of losing weight, it's better to weigh once a week. Your weight can fluctuate so much from little things that it can get really discouraging to weigh everyday. If you wait till the end of 7 days, you'll have the best result. WW weighs once a week and they tell you to try not to weigh between meetings. I know I've given up before due to random little weight gains. If I'd just ignored the scale for a week, I'd have stayed on track and would now be a lot closer to my goal!!

And don't forget to weigh in the morning, naked (jewelry can add weight too), after you've gone potty and before you drink anything!

KEEP GOING!! You CAN do this and we're all right here to encourage you!!

it's hard right? every time the number on the scale goes up or stays the same you think that you're doing something wrong but maybe it's not that? When are you comparing the loss to>

Hey, don't give up on us now! Everyone goes through hard times every now and then, when the scale just doesn't want to budge whatever you do. Keep faith. If you are on plan it will move - eventually! I was wondering, about what weight are you? If you are quite heavy to begin with 1900 is a good intake. But if you are not so far away from a healthy weight it is probably a bit too much and bringing it down might help.

I weighed 279.2 as of this morning. I've tried several online calculators to figure out how many calories I need to eat to lose weight and they all had different answers so I went with the average. Do you think 1900 is too much for my size? Not enough? I honestly have no clue and appreciate any and all help I receive. I also use the WATP videos and do the 2 mile walk 5-6 times a week.

I'm actually surprised its not some more calories. But if that was the average, then I would go with that. I can throw your numbers into the calculator I use. How tall are you & what is your height? And how often do you exercise in the week?

You can totally do it. I just went through a hiatus where the scale stayed the same/went up a bit over a two week period (don't you hate that TOM/ovulation/random hormonal stuff you already feel weird and your body won't lose weight!?!), and I was totally bummed because I'm working so hard. But it passed, and I lost two pounds this week! If you keep eating right and exercising, the pounds will come off. Good luck and keep a goin'!

Chance, I'm 5'7" and exercise 30 minutes 5-6 times a week. Maybe I need more calories? That would be nice!
