I've started the couch to 5k program offered at coolrunning.com. I thought it would be helpful if there were any other runners out there I could converse with. If you heart running as much as I do please feel free to join in on this weekly thread...

Last night was day 2 of week 1. Day one went like the breeze. I was actually feeling bad that the workout was so easy... thought there is no way this is going to do ANYTHING for me. Well then the next day the soreness kicked in. Day two was MUCH harder. I started getting really tight in my right calf but only when I would do the walking breaks. But I stuck with it and got that wonderful feeling of accomplishment when all was said and done. I don't want to overdo it but I think I may run again tonight.

I've been kind of off/on about it lately, but I'm heading out the door in a few. I'm hoping to get 4 miles.

I just started running this summer to lose weight for my wedding, but I accidentally fell in love with it. I am finishing the C25K this week, and have been following the C25K thread with a bunch of other ladies. The 9 week program took me about 13 weeks to finish, because I had to stop briefly here and there and re-do a few weeks.
I'm going to continue with running as long as I can. I'm worried about the weather, and I'm worried about trying to get pregnant - can I still jog?

Starting this thread is a great idea!!

There are a few of us just starting week two of the couch to 5K program. There is a thread in the challenge thread if you care to visit there.

I'm doing the C25K too. I'm on week 1. I'm signing up for a 5K in March.

I also love running!!!

I've been doing it for 4 years now, recreationally speaking. Running give me a sense of accomplishment unlike no other cardio out there. I'm off for a crisp autumn run right away. The briskness in the air, the crunch of the leaves under your feet, the warmth of the sun, THAT's what living is all about!

I would love to say that I love to run! lol

I just did Day 1 Week 1 of the C25K program last night and it was actually fun! Since I did it on a treadmill I think I pushed myself more than I otherwise would have if I ran outside because I was slick with sweat everywhere by the end. Lovely image eh? you're welcome.

I'm not sore today as far as I can tell. Looking forward to Day 2 tomorrow!

jahjah - ofcourse you can join! Even a small run is still a run... keep it up!

jen - 4 miles? Your my hero PS love the avatar you look buff!

Kori - "accidently fell in love with it" your too funny. The rule of thumb is any exercise you were doing BEFORE you were pregnant you can continue after. So starting to job during would be bad but if your a runner now jogging would be fine.

beaka - TRY AGAIN! I could use the company sounds like there are a few of us...

njoy - Sounds like we are on the same week. Finally someone to talk to lol. Good luck with the program.

Kataclismic - I would love to be where you are running wise. I totally understand the sense of accomplishment you are talking about. I always have a hard time running outside though when it is cold.

preppingbride - I think it can vary from run to run on how sore you are afterwards. We are about the same way through the program. Its so nice to have others at the same point as I am. Someone to talk to about it!

Hey! I would love to join! =D

Question tho.. I'm completely new to running outdoors. Its starting to get a little chilly. What do you all recommend wearing? Do I layer and just take my sweatshirt/jacket off when I get hot and keep running? Or am I supposed to keep it on? Or is it ok to jog in a t-shirt in chilly weather?

I don't want to get sick :x I'm not a runner at all.. but have wanted to get into it for awhile now.

Kataclismic- Fall runs= the best!! Today is a classic crisp fall day in CO and it's sooo much easier to run under those conditions!

Kofarg- Don't ya just hate it when you fall in love with something that's good for you?

Stephie- Hero? Hardly. I was doing pretty well over the summer, but I've become a bit of a gym junky (read; elliptical). I was a hurting woman today!

I came in just under 4. I think I need new running shoes I'm starting to sense a "breakdown"....

Hi everyone! I'd like to join in, running is one of my preferred ways of exercising. Today, it went not so good though. I should've ran 3 x 10 with 3 minutes of walking in between, but after 15 minutes of running I really was done with it. So I walked some more. Oh well, some days are just not it. My legs felt like lead and it was getting dark and scary already. Tomorrow will be better!

Bekko: I personally like to wear jogging pants, t-shirt, sweatshirt and even a shawl. I do not take of the sweatshirt. But I get cold very easily. I think I could pull it off in t-shirts as long as it's not freezing. Many people like to wear a thermo shirt... it is a special kind of fabric that removes the sweat from your skin and puts it in the layer above it (cotton preferably). I like to at least have something with me to cover my arms. I may be hot when running but when I stop I get cold very easily.
