If you have congestion you can boil a big pot of water to put moisture in the air or just take a really steamy shower/bath. That'll help break up anything in your sinuses or chest. I'd say get some soup and I usually do green tea with honey (but I'm sure any hot tea will help) and plenty of rest!

Oh.. is vicks vapor rub considered an antibiotic? If not that stuffs the bomb dot com.

Eat any kind of soup - it helps to have something that warms you from the inside.

using a Neti pot will help clear your sinuses and any congestion you may have. And I swear by Airborne. A friend recommended it to me a few years ago to take before and after I take a flight because I used to always catch colds and stuff when I flew (planes are like germ incubators) and I fly for a living. I also take them as soon as I feel something is coming on and I havent had a cold since.

Airborne is basically a ridiculously high dose of Vitamin C coupled to a multivitamin with a liiiiiittle bit of echinacea. Airborne is not really expensive, but I would rather go straight for the C, myself.

And I hear you on the airplane, Arlene. I'm sit in the same classroom everyday with 90 something other students. You can just see the illness spread out across the room.
