Eat before or after

when you do an 8am workout....
whens the best time to eat breakfast....

Iconised Ghost 10-12-2008 03:29 AM

i dunno, i never do 8am work outs :D i guess it depends on how hard the work out is. I would eat about an hour before hand

lointhecity 10-12-2008 03:36 AM

I do 6am workouts and I eat after I'm done. :) do whatever works for you.

sh3l5 10-12-2008 04:11 AM

well this morning ive eaten afterwards....
i only get chance to do early morning workouts every other weekend....
i LOVE them....
want to be able to do them everyday....

lointhecity 10-12-2008 04:25 AM

I like them too, they make my day a lot happier!! lol.

ZetaMD2Be 10-12-2008 05:21 AM

I love morning workouts because it ensures that I get the workout in -- no excuses of being tired at the end of the day! I usually eat afterwards.

sh3l5 10-12-2008 05:35 AM

exactly my thoughts....
exercise before work would be good, but would mean up at half 5!....

supergir111 10-12-2008 07:12 AM

i too love early morning workouts, i dont know if i could do them before work though..it might stop me from overeating when i got back if had something to do straight after..hmmm the idea is sounding better and better lol

sh3l5 10-12-2008 07:15 AM

with work days i do my workouts as soon as i get in....
this way its over and done with....
and i get a meal straight afterwards to re energise me....
my second workouts done about an hour after my tea....

Onsecondthought 10-12-2008 10:44 AM

i workout first thing in the morning as well. i'm usually at the gym by half six which means i wake up at 445 am!!! i know that sounds insane, but that is absolutely THE ONLY way that i don't make excuses to avoid going.

i actually eat both before and after my workout. since there is so much time between the time when i wake up and the time i actually get to the gym, i usually eat a yogurt or some cottage cheese and half a piece of fruit. these are the only two things that i've found that give me enough energy to get through my workout, but that don't weigh down my stomach. anything heavier than that and my stomach starts doing flip-flops while i'm on the treadmill. once i'm done with my workout and at the office, i eat a "proper" breakfast at like half 10. :coffee:

sh3l5 10-12-2008 10:57 AM

wow i so want the motivation to be up at silly oclock!....
would make the day soo much better....
hmm, 8 oclock for work, leave at quater to 7...
up at 7 normally so id have to be up at 6 to get me one workout done....
definately achievable shed might be a little cold tho!....

If I'm having an early workout, I'll usually have water and a breakfast bar (I love the Kashi ones) about 10 minutes before I begin to give me a little energy. After my workout, I'll hop into a cold shower, then have a real breakfast after I get out!

It works for me!

i have to go to school by 8.30AM so i wake up at 6.30/7 and get my workout done (cardio only - 36 minutes) and then eat breakfast, get ready to school.
Doing morning exercises give me energy and refresh my mind :)

girl anachronism 10-12-2008 01:12 PM

When I go for early morning runs, I eat something very small before I run, like a few almonds, or a couple of pieces of turkey bacon, and then eat breakfast when I get home.

JulieJ08 10-12-2008 01:34 PM

I get up at 5 to 5:30 to workout. I wasn't eating anything beforehand. Now I'm having just a piece of fruit first - I thought maybe it would give me a little more energy and be good for the metabolism. I'm not sure if it's made a difference. But I can't do yoga or run with anything heavier in my stomach.
