A Full Week On Plan

I started my weight loss journey in mid-June. I feel like I've done well overall - my food choices are MUCH healthier than they used to be, and I'm exercising 5-6 times a week. I've lost 15-17 lbs., depending on how kind or cruel my scale is being. However, I've yet to go a whole week without slipping up in some way.

So I'm setting a goal for myself: This week, I will be 100% on-plan. For me, that means I will stay within my calorie limit (1400-1600) and exercise every single day (even if it's just going for a walk on days 6 and 7).

I'm feeling confident that I can do it! I just wanted to post my intention here so I can be accountable to you guys.

Good luck to all of you as you work toward your own goals this week!

:carrot::carrot::carrot:

sweetkam 08-10-2008 06:14 PM

lets do it together! one week on program and exercising everyday! then at the end of the week we can compare notes!

Quiet Ballerina 08-10-2008 07:58 PM

I'd like to join in!

My goals are the same as yours. Exercise each day, and stay in my calorie range.

(I used to visit the site, but kept going back and forth. Now i'm finally dedicated, and I'm trying to stick to a better workout schedule)

I'll be back tomorrow with an update!

UrsusMaritimus 08-10-2008 08:09 PM

Great idea! Let's just post our daily progress in this thread! I'll update tomorrow as well.

Yay for "accountabilibuddies!" :)

garstar 08-10-2008 10:47 PM

I'm totally doing this.

My calories are under 1500 and I plan on exercising 5 days minimum next week.

LET'S DO THIS! :)

sweetkam 08-10-2008 11:11 PM

SWEET! i WILL SEE YOU LADIES TOMORROW!

Findmyself 08-11-2008 12:37 AM

Great, I would love to join, too!! Let's do this!! :carrot:

UrsusMaritimus 08-11-2008 01:27 AM

Sunday, August 10:

I had belly dance class today and I went for a 60-minute walk tonight, so I'm good on exercise. I actually haven't eaten enough today (which almost never happens), so I'll be having a snack before I go to bed to bring my calorie count up to at least 1300 - otherwise I'll be ravenous all day tomorrow.

One on-plan day down, six to go! Hope you all are doing well!

Annita 08-11-2008 10:48 AM

Monday 11-8:
ate enough (noodles, pork, veggies for lunch, beef, fish and 2 bowls of fruits for dinner. I woke up at 1PM so i didn't have breakfast but i guess it's ok for 2day :))
exercise 25 mins hula hoop
drank 2 liters of water already. But it's only 9.45PM so maybe i'll drink more :)
6 more days to go.

*edit*
at 11.00PM I decided to do 100 WPU (wall push up). yay .. finally able to do 100, even tho it's just wall push up lol.

Taylor86 08-11-2008 11:06 AM

I woke up and an awesome breakfast and now I am heading off of for school. I don't know if I will get a workout in today or not because of all the running around I will be doing - but I am gonna sure as heck try.

I also started using the daily plate again today since I haven't been doing it all since I got home from England!

6 days to go!

prepping 08-11-2008 11:59 AM

I'm totally up for being part of the "accountabilibuddies" :D

Have to use today as Day 1 but plan is as follows:
- 1200-1500 calories a day
- Exercise a bare minimum of 30 min each day (without making excuses about not getting up early enough or getting home too late)
- Be accountable.

Woo hoo! I'm in for the challenge ladies! :D

(1/2 a day in and I'm doing good.) ;)

UrsusMaritimus 08-11-2008 01:47 PM

Way to go, everyone! I'm glad so many of us are doing this!

Taylor - didn't know you were in England! Did you have a good time? I spent 10 days in London in April and absolutely LOVED it.

Annita - Way to go on those wall push-ups!!! I had to drop out of the challenge due to a shoulder injury. I'd gotten up to 91 and was sooo mad.

Will be back with a progress report this evening!

Taylor86 08-11-2008 01:53 PM

I had a wonderful time and met my fiances parents for the first time - they were wonderful.

However, several, several pints of beer later and 6 course meals prepared by his mom I need to get back on track.

I am just sitting down to my neatly prepared lunch and I am gonna make my goals this week!!

Spoz 08-11-2008 02:10 PM

I'll be glad to join :D I started this two weeks ago actually and I'm still going strong! so if I can help motivate/participate here it'd be wonderful :)

UrsusMaritimus 08-11-2008 03:40 PM

Awesome! Keep us in line, Lauren!

garstar 08-11-2008 03:47 PM

Awesome job ladies!

Yesterday I did great as well, I even avoided the brownies and koolaid that were handed to me at church! I'm teaching vacation bible school this week, and every night there is a sugary calorie packed snack for the kids and helpers. I'll just have to keep saying no. It's hard though, because then everyone looks at me - I'm the only person saying no... People think something is wrong with me. Agh.

Today has been good so far, I had a great smoothie with an energy boost this morning at work (i work at coldstone). I just sipped on it while I worked - lasted me like 2 hours, it was great!!! And only like 150 calories, kept me full all morning. Awesome!

keep up the good work :)

sweetkam 08-11-2008 06:20 PM

:carrot::carrot::carrot:
three cheers for us!
I did so well i am amazed!
I have a really hard time eating in the morning so i had just a banana. then for lunch i had lf chicken noodle soup with only half the whole grain baguette. then for my next "little" meal i had some mixed nuts and a stick of cheese. and for dinner i will have to have a ww frozen meal since i wont have time to cook. then after my religious meeting i will finish off the day with a bike ride on my stationary bike in the basement! WE ARE SO GONNA ROCK THIS WEEK!!!!
see you ladies tomorrow! ;)

Quiet Ballerina 08-11-2008 07:49 PM

I've done great so far with my calories for today (Monday)! If I'm hungry later, my dessert/evening snack is going to be half of banana (ate the other half this morning with breakfast) so that I'll still be in my calorie range.

I haven't worked out yet. I'm waiting for dinner to settle before I hit the gym.

Great job to those that have stuck with their plan today!!! :)

garstar: Good for you for staying away from the sweets! I don't know if I'd have your willpower in the same situation. You work at Coldstone too?!! You poor thing! I'd get myself into trouble there for sure.

Edit:
I am *so* proud of myself. I wanted to go at least 30 minutes on the elliptical at the gym, and I stayed for an hour! (It helps that a cute movie was on tv, so I wanted to see the end of it.)

I was so hungry after working out that extra amount, that I let myself eat 1.5 bananas instead of just the half of one.

According to thedailyplate, i should only eat 1159 calories per day (specific little site, isn't it?)...so I went 66 calories over my limit today.

Most people on here allow themselves a little wiggle room though, so I'm allowing it for tonight since I did such a great job working out. :)

ChopSuzyLL 08-11-2008 08:57 PM

I want to join too! I'm new here and a day late, but I'm sure it'll be okay! :)

1200-1400 calories per day
8+ glasses water per day
Exercise atleast 1/2 hour every day

Doing well so far - but I need to get my exercise in... I think I'll do it right now!

UrsusMaritimus 08-11-2008 11:40 PM

Welcome, Suzy!

Ballerina - Way to kick a** on the elliptical! :D If you enter your exercise into Daily Plate, it will adjust your calories, allowing you to eat more. Beware, though - it tends to overestimate the amount of calories we burn when we work out. In any case, I doubt an extra banana is going to hurt, especially if you're eating less than 1200 calories to begin with.

August 11: I stayed on plan today. I hiked a "moderately strenuous" trail this morning and got a good 80 minutes of exercise. If my calculations are correct, I've eaten 1500 calories today, which is right where I want to be.

Two successful days down, five to go... We can do it! :trampo:

Scarlett 08-12-2008 01:51 AM

I'll join in and stay OP for the next 6 days. Tueday-Sunday. I'm doing south beach, so my goal will be to follow phase 1 with no cheats for 6 days. Meaning 3 meals, 2 snacks, a small dessert and NO PICKING.

Taylor86 08-12-2008 10:34 AM

My second day is going well so far! I planned out my day with dailyplate.come and I still have 150 calories left which means more fruit and veg!

Everyone seems to be doing so great! This is an awesome thread!

Spoz 08-12-2008 11:20 AM

Day 16 here, I'm staying on-plan but finding it difficult because during the last few mornings I've constantly ate, and I'm really trying to hold back. Weird, I actually found the first week easier.

Going good Ursis and Taylor, well done :)

prepping 08-12-2008 11:29 AM

I'm loving all the energy and positivity flowing through everyone in here! It's what's keeping me from that evil plate of baked goods in the office kitchen at the moment. :D

Yesterday was MOSTLY good. I got all my calories, didn't cheat at all, drank 10+ water, but I didn't get time to work out. Got home late from a meeting and was absolutely drained. Stayed awake a whole half hour before zonking out on the couch. Think next time this happens I'll just make sure that I don't stop moving because as soon as I sat down I was out like a light.

Today is fun to figure out though! Girl's night tonight where we're going out to dinner and I've determined what I'm going to order by looking at the Boston Pizza menu online and planned my day of meals around it. Still need to figure out where the exercise will fit in...

Look at me being all diligent and stuff! I feel so accomplished. ;)

UrsusMaritimus 08-12-2008 03:31 PM

Scarlett - Welcome!

Bride - Way to plan ahead! Meals out tend to be my downfall.

Lauren - 16 days is an AMAZING accomplishment. It's awesome.

Day three is looking good so far. I hiked again this morning and my legs are KILLING me. I think I need to soak in a bath or something...

I'll be watching the Olympics at a friend's house tonight, so I'll have to make sure I take some on-plan snacks. She always has tasty, tempting, delightful things in her kitchen. Will check in again when I get home tonight.

Good job everyone!

sweetkam 08-12-2008 07:08 PM

hello ladies! well today went fairly well although i have used all my points for the day. which is ok because i will just have a salad with ff dressing which is zero points for dinner. i still need to work it out but i plan on doing some pilates later which always makes me fell good! i just want to tell you all how motivating this thread is and i am soo glad that ursus posted her commitment. i just think it is so awesome. way to go ladies!

Quiet Ballerina 08-12-2008 08:54 PM

ChopSuzyLL & Scarlett: Welcome to the group!

Jaclyn: great job on the workout and calories! Have fun watching the Olympics.

Taylor86: Great job planning out your meal

Lauren: Day 16! You're inspiration to our group. :)

preppingbride: What a smart idea to plan what you eat before you go out! Good luck on the exercise.

sweetkam: Great job on the cals! Good luck with the exercise.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tuesday (Day 2 for me) went well.
I'm still under my calorie goal for the day, which leaves room for a post workout snack (which I'm going to go get in a minute). :)
I just got back from the gym. Only did 30 minutes elliptical work today, but I'm going to do some crunches and pushups while I watch tv.
Scarlett 08-13-2008 12:47 AM
Day 1 down, 5 more to go.
Today I stayed op...I had one minor slip up, I had 2 diet sodas at work. I usually guzzle the stuff, but today at least I made myself alternate a glass of soda with a glass of water. According to SBD phase one you're not allowed soda, but other than that I was great. I'm going to try really hard to not drink any tommorow or Sat.
UrsusMaritimus 08-13-2008 02:04 AM
Sweetkam - sounds like you did great today! You too, Scarlett - if you're going to "slip up," diet soda is the way to go. :)
I worked my butt off hiking today, but my eating went a little haywire. I technically stayed "on plan," but I didn't make the best food choices (unghgh, seduced by chocolate gelato). But, as the saying goes, tomorrow is another day, and I'll do better.
Three days down, four to go. Woohoo!
Spoz 08-13-2008 04:37 AM
You guys are doing great!
Scarlett - diet Soda isnt going to make a huge deal - and at least it shows when it comes to slip ups you can use your common sense and go for the diet!
Ursis, Ballerina - Wish I had the motivation to work out! This week my sister in law has been constantly here so I've felt a little strange doing my workouts, since I usually have the house to myself. I'm going to make an effort go get an hour of Tai chi in today though.
Kai Kai 08-13-2008 11:09 AM
Hey everyone! i just joined the website.. still trying to figure it out but I would like to join you guys for a full week on the plan. I'm starting a little late but I did great yesterday and today.. so far so good. I'm eating less than 1300 calories and I plan to work out for 30 minutes a day. Good luck to everyone!! :)
Taylor86 08-13-2008 11:23 AM
Well, third day is going well for me! Started it off with a good breakfast and I have chicken defrosting in the fridge for dinner!
I will get some personal replies in tonight when I get home from school! Everyone seems to be doing so well, though!!!!
UrsusMaritimus 08-13-2008 07:24 PM
Just checking in to keep myself accountable - I've been really hungry for the past couple of days (not sure why - I'm eating plenty), and I don't want to mess up:
This morning: Good workout. I ran a mile (not that far, I know, but I'm just starting to run again) and lifted weights.
Breakfast was a smoothie, lunch was a sandwich + apple.
Dinner will be mahi-mahi and a large salad. Evening snack will be a FiberOne bar (mmmm, FiberOne bar...).
That should put me right at 1500 calories. I'll be back with an update later tonight!
Hope y'all had a good day!
sweetkam 08-13-2008 08:58 PM
hello ladies! I had a good day had a 90 cal drink from starbucks and nuts for bf. then for lunch i had a cold piece of pizza (i know not the best choice but not really off plan either) then foe dinner i will have a salad chicken and some wild rice and for dessert a pear! I got in my exercise babysitting 2 8 year old boys for two hours lots of fort play and hide and seek. you all are doing so awesome way to go!!!!
Quiet Ballerina 08-13-2008 10:25 PM
Day 3 for me (Wednesday)
I followed my calorie limit (it was hard! pizza arrived at work during lunch. but I just had one piece)
...and I just got back from the gym. worked out for 30 minutes, my minimum.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scarlett: everyone else that commented is right, diet soda was a much smarter choice than regular soda. we all have little slip-ups.

Lauren: I know how weird it is to work out when others are around. Some of my workout videos I have are sooooo embarassing to use in front of others (hip hop abs anyone? I am NOT a hip hop dancer). :) Maybe your sister will want to join in though.

Kai Kai: welcome to the group!!

Jaclyn: running a mile is impressive to me. I can't run that long. great job!

sweetkam: What drink was it? I miss my coffee drinks *so* much...i have a hard time finding some that won't ruin my calorie count.

Taylor: Thank you!!! That's awesome. I didn't know about the site. :) Yay! Back to Starbucks I go!!

Taylor86 08-13-2008 10:35 PM

Three days down!!!! I have been under my calorie mark everyday (only by 50 or less) and I am feeling so great!

This thread was a wonderful idea! Everyone is doing so well!

ballerina An iced grande non-fat mik - sugar-free vanilla (or any sugar-less syrup ) will put you back only 80 calories and for a hot tall non-fat milk (sugar-less syrup) it is 90 calories. I drink hot or iced americanos which is espresso and water for only 15 calories and then add splenda. Also - the iced coffee unsweetened (any size) is only 5 calories. Starbucks also has a great website that can help you figure out the calories in any drinks with anything in it so you can find out what works for you!

(FYI - anything at starbucks ordered with non-fat milk and sugar-less syrup is called "skinny" - i.e. Hot Tall Skinny Vanilla Latte --- just to make sure you are getting the right thing. I should know, I worked there for 2 years.)

Quiet Ballerina 08-13-2008 11:22 PM

Possible problem:
This Friday, I wanted to go meet a friend, cause there's this downtown festival thing...it's "an evening of art, music, wine tasting, shopping and food."

...so how do I stay in my calorie range? I can't just drink water all day and then finally get food and wine at the festival. I'd like to enjoy myself and taste different wines and we'd probably get dinner (or sample foods as we walked...I've never been to the festival so I'm not sure of all the details.)

suggestions?

UrsusMaritimus 08-14-2008 02:39 AM

Taylor, you are doing awesome, especially considering you're coming off a vacation!

Ballerina - Huh, that's tough. I think you should just eat as you normally would during the day and try to make good choices at the festival. I don't think anyone here would fault you for treating yourself on a special occasion. It may not be strictly "on plan," but if you can enjoy yourself without going overboard, that's a victory.

Four days down, three to go... Keep up the fabulous work, ladies!

Taylor86 08-14-2008 10:30 AM

I totally agree with Ursus. Enjoy yourself without going overboard it what it is all about.

UrsusMaritimus 08-14-2008 10:04 PM

Another day down! I hiked this morning and still have a few hundred more calories to consume this evening (which I intend to do shortly). I also made healthy food choices all day. Yay!

How did everyone else do?

Two more days to make this goal! :D :D :D
