Default Purchasing a scale, but which type?

Hi everyone,
I need to buy a new scale. I have decided that we need to have one at home to keep myself accountable. We have never owned one and to be honest I never really used to weigh myself. But I think that might be part of the reason my weight has crept up this past year.

Does anyone recommend a type/brand? I think that digital is most accurate right? But what about those ones with the body fat data, is that accurate?

Thanks for suggestions

IMHO, a regular digital scale is fine if you're not fanatical about tracking all the extra info besides weight.

I find that the "old time" scales (non digital) get out of whack too often and have to be manually reset all the time.

A lot of places say that their body fat data is accurate, but if you're interested in such a recording, the hand held ones are more accurate than stepping onto a scale.

I've always wanted a digital scale that measures in tenths of pounds, my last one just measured halves. But I'm sort of a numbers geek.

My cheapo $15 digital scale was very durable and accurate, so I don't think you need to spend much money on a scale. I'm sure almost all of them are basically the same. (If your 5-year-old nephew floods the bathroom, just for example a $50 scale will probably die just as fast as my $15 one did.)

From what I've read about the body fat scales, none of them are really very accurate. Some are more consistent than others, meaning that at least you can see a downward or (God forbid!) upward trend, even if it's always consistently off by 5% or something. I've heard mostly good things about the consistency of the Tanita scales.

I like my Weight Watchers scale. It can keep track of up to 5 people. It does GW, Lowest weight, and starting weight. I think. lol.

I have a Weight Watchers scale too and I love it. It can keep track of multiple people, measures bf and water %. It also measures to the tenth of a pound which i love. And it was only $25 so I think it was a good buy. And so far it's been really reliable and sturdy...so I would recommend the brand.

I have a digital scale made by Taylor that I picked up at Target for like $20-25. It's like the WW scale she was just describing... it can has a memory for multiple people, weighs to the tenths, does BMI and water %... (how accurate that is I'm not sure but it's pretty cool still). I really like it (I just don't like when it gives me numbers I don't want to see ).

I have a HealthoMeter scale. It's digital, measures by the tenths, does water, fat percentage, and can hold up to 4 peoples memory. I really really like it and it's fat reading are accurate since I get the same numbers with my trainer. Oh and it does starting, goal, how much until goal and how much you have lost. I love it! It was 42 dollars at walmart. A little pricy, but I do love it.

OK, looks like I am heading to Wal mart (we dont have target ) It seems like one with the ability to keep track of multiple people is awesome. Now the hubby has no excuse. We had tried to both slim down together a little around Christmas but really had no way of keeping track b/c out old scale wasn't reliable. Thanks everyone!

I read somewhere that with scales everything is okay as long as they aren't analog.. Digital is supposed to be more reliable.
