Wink If I can stick with it, maybe I'll be onto something...

So I'm a total emotional eater. Definitely a binger on occasion as well.

Today I was having a REALLY crappy day. All stemming from a dream I didn't even remember I had until I was standing at the copier this afternoon. Don't ask me what triggers these things or why I allow them to bother me emotionally. I've made posts about my dreams before, they're always super vivid and usually very emotional. *shrugs* What can I say?

Anyway, I told myself today at work "instead of going home and going crazy, just get on the treadmill and 'walk it out'." My friend is always telling me that is the best stress release for him, he has a crappy day at work and goes to the gym to blow off steam.

That's exactly what I did... and DAMN I FEEL GOOD!

Now, if I can just continue to blow off steam CONSTRUCTIVELY I think I'll be great! Anyone else figure this outlet out?

Hope you're all having a great week!

You are definitely on to something...I have learned that when I feel the crappiest is the time I should go to the gym, go for a swim, walk the dog...do anything physical. I am going back to work after 2 years on disability for medical reasons but also because I developed severe depression and generalized anxiety disorder due to the stress of my job. I am only working halftime and for the last week I have been working on my plan for keeping my sanity and I see that I have scheduled..and I mean scheduled two tai chi session and three gym sessions a week. These will also give me a perfect reason to remind my idiot boss that I only work mornings and so NO I won't be at the meetings he insists on scheduling in the afternoons. I got into that before..being paid to work halftime but mostly being there all day...NO MORE

Anyhow yes....exercise helps blow out the stressies, the angries and the pissies and research shows that it helps anxiety and depression as well..whhheeeeee! GOOD for you for DOING IT!

I do that too! When I have a horrid day at work I go to the gym and just let all of aggression out on the machines and by the time I'm finished I feel great.

I have really vivid dreams too! though for some reason they never disturb me even if they're dreadful - they more amaze me than anything

However I'm an emotional and binge eater too and I find dancing my butt off or doing Tai chi when I feel bad really helps. I always know I'm letting off steam because often when I work out I feel so overwhelmed I just cry and let it all go. Glad you found something that helps you !

When ever a medical professional (who doesn't know me from a can of paint) tells me how unhealthy I am, I usually get on the treadmill until my legs are ready to fall off. It's either that or eat every thing in sight and then throw it up. So yeah, I get on the treadmill and I'm usually pissed, listening to the angriest rock music I can find in my drawer (usually some burned System of the Down or Linkin Park circa 2002) But then by like the second mile, I'm feeling sorry for myself and I have to swich to some R&B so I can cry a bit. LOL! I hate that no matter how much weight I lose right now, I still look like all I eat is cheese burgers and french fries and this is what every freakin doctor assumes. And then by the third mile, I start to feel empowered so I switch to some Sean Paul (circa 2002) because dance hall always gets my blood flowing and I finally start to feel better, and I'm like screw them (or whatever is bothering me) because I know that I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing and I just have to be patient.

Spoz: I like to dance my but off too! Usually to the Purple Rain sound track or some Michel Jackson (PYT or Off the Wall).

LOL Cali girl I'm there with you!

Last night started out with crap that reminded me of him... so I could "release" some of the crap that was bothing me, went to angry rock and then to techno so I could "dance" while I was walking. Definitely felt really good to get that out of there and just be like "you know what, eff you!"

Im right there with you guys, treadmill is a great way to blow steam....best music to me....lol...is the kittycat Dolls. I hate them cause they look so good, lol, but their music has great beat and tempo for walking on the treadmill and their songs are all about, to **** with all y'all I can do it on my own, and about being an independent woman. "I dont need a man" is great for when your pissed at a guy...lol...and "Dont cha" (wish your girlfriend was hot like me) is particularly good when your feeling kinda proud and sexy!
