Default Is it time to change my goal?

OK, so I had a body fat analysis last week that put me at 28% Woot!!! That makes me very happy and proud! But, it also caused me to do a little math...

Weight at time of test - 158 #
28% body fat = 44#
lean body mass = 114#
Planned remaining weight loss - 30#...

So, if I lose only more fat and not lean body mass, that would put me at 14# fat and 128 # total which is only 11% body fat. I'm pretty sure that is too little, at least for me. Does this mean I need to change my goal? But I really like it! It seems so nice and round at 100.

Has anyone else made goal changes during their journey, and if so how/why did you decide to? TIA

Do what's best for your body... I know losing 100 pounds sounds so great.... but at the same time, do what's healthy for you.

I actually had two different doctors give me two different numbers.. one CONSIDERABLY less than the other... (165 vs. 135) But at 165 I would be 20% body fat... which he said is PERFECT for me.. (and he's a world-renowned weight loss doc... so I'm going to trust him) he says so many people get caught up on the BMI chart, etc... but really, you have to do what's best for YOUR body.. it's your individual make up that makes weight loss unique for you.

165 for someone my height may be high for others... but apparently I have much more muscle than the average woman... so... 165 for me is perfect.

I agree... 11% body fat seems WAY too low.

CONGRATULATIONS on your accomplishments!!!!!

I agree with kukristen- you have to do what's best for you. I often wondered how I would know if was at the right weight. Well silly, it's MY body, right?

And you can't predict body fat. I think as long as you are keeping your body fat at a reasonable level (you don't sound comfortable with 11%), why not try to meet your goal? 120 is a healthy number for 5'4. Just don't get so stuck on it you feel like you HAVE to get there. What if your comfortable weight is 125? 130? What if you have a great body fat %? Will that be ok? You've done so well so far! Congrats on your loss!!!!

I picked a number. That number was 130 (my dream number is 125). I have found that there is no difference in my body between 130 and 135, but 135 is much easier to maintain. I sit comfortably between 135 and 140, and anything above 140 means I need to get my butt back in gear.

i am also 5'4 and my goal right now is between 123 and 128. I want a range i can stay within. I may decide to go lower, but again, its about whats not too difficult to maintain.

Hmmm... all good points. Thanks ladies.

I guess it really is too soon to know where I'm gonna end up - I don't want to end up trying to get somewhere I have to struggle to stay...

So yah, the "lost 100#" thing is pretty cool sounding, but it would be silly to say I lost 100 pounds then gained 10 back because it was too far... I'll keep the goal, but try not to let myself get super worked up about getting there - if I end up somewhere else that will be OK.
