June NSV

I thought I would start a June NSV thread. NSV stands for non scale victory because weight loss is so much more then the number on the scale.

I Have a couple to start the month off ...

1. I was trying on some of my sisters clothing, her tops have been starting to fit me. She asked me if I was still planning on getting surgery to remove the excess skin and breast implants, I said yes and grabbed all of the excess skin around my stomach and pulled it out. Well it was the first time she had really seen me do something like that. She then said that it looks so different, I thought she was referring to how the skin look gross and shrivled, no she said that she meant how thin I was without the excess skin. She hadn't realized that I have a small waist under all the loose skin.

2. I went to a parade on Friday with my SIL's Aunt and my nephew and when we got to my SIL house afterwards her aunt said as I walked out of the room, "look how thin she is". It always makes me smile when I get complements like that.

3. I wore a tight halter top to the parade and was not self concious about how I looked in it at all. I felt comfortable the entire time. Normally I'm uncomfortable in tight tops.

My hubby said to me "you are getting thin!" That felt amazing when he said that!!!! I just couldn't help but smile REALLY big!! That really just made my 30 pound loss so far totally worth it!! I am on cloud nine!! :)

I'm officially back to 2006 sizes, 14 in jeans, 16 pants, even though the scale doesn't reflect that (yet). And, I can see that I'm definitely losing in my face. Yay!

skinnybeach 06-09-2008 10:24 AM

graciegoose13 06-09-2008 05:28 PM

scorpio88 06-09-2008 05:30 PM

My size 6 work pants that I bought not even a month ago are getting BIG! Size 5, here I come. :D

Congrats all on your NSVs. :) graciegoose, I could never make it through one of those, haha, congrats on that!

I have started to enjoy healthier versions of food I love cooked at home rather than eating out!

Scarlett 06-09-2008 05:35 PM

I actually managed to go out to a bar with my friends and not drink. I ordered a club soda with some lime slices, noone even knew, and I still had a great time.

smyrah 06-09-2008 05:38 PM

some of my friends said my face is getting smaller .

I went to a brew festival downtown to watch my rowdy (but awesome) friends play.... I paid the $10 to have all the bbq hot dogs, potato salads, chips, guac I could handle, not to mention FREE BEER straight off the brewery's tap... and I stuck to my WATER! I stayed on plan all day and even walked to and from the brew pub. I had a blast.

I love to read each and every one of these. It really makes me feel good to see how wonderful everyone is doing.

My sister has always been the only one of us girls that was thin, I can't remember being under a size 16/ xl until now. I recently started fitting into her tops she is like a medium top 8 - 10 on bottom. She is pregenant which means she can't wear medium tops because her chest is growing. Well she gave me two trash bags of clothing, medium and small tops which fit or almost fit me, and several pairs of bottoms that are 8 that look like I'm hoping to fit into by the end of the summer, plus a few goal pairs of 6s.

rememberhowtosmile, that is awesome about bags of free new-to-you clothes!! I think I'm actually jealous. ;) That would make my day/month for sure.

My NSV for June is that I'm getting back the passion and motivation to stick to a healthy lifestyle (after a few weeks of losing my direction).
Looking for new and exciting ways to spruce up meals. And no giving in to hormone driven cravings! :D

It didn't help that the cups were clear so I could see the bubbly goodness on the inside. I just tried to focus on talking to everyone I could. I lucked out and ran into a few people I knew and conversed with some strangers, too (not to mention my friends). In essence, I just tried to keep busy. I need to remember that in the future as I have NEVER in my life passed up free microbrew while having such a good time regardless.

I made a personal best in fitness . . . 20 minutes on the elipitical the most I've ever done is 12 minutes

Taylor86 06-10-2008 07:00 PM

I bought some hummus today for the first time - tired it and loved it. And I am going to make those portabello mushroom caps tonight from a WW cookbook.

Wore a tank top and my stomach actually looked flat. To top that, the day care teacher asked if I have been losing weight..(yes, i wore that tank top) and i said yeah I've been trying and she said she could tell. Yay! Second person who noticed that I'm losing weight, except my bf...the first one was back in April so this comment made me SMILE. heh...

graciegoose13 06-14-2008 09:50 AM

i had an awesome exercising week--i played ultimate 2 times, went to the gym twice, and went to two spin classes as well. i forgot how energizing exercising can be!

RememberHowToSmile 06-16-2008 09:16 AM

I bought a bra from Victoria Secert, I know that is a weird NSV but they now have some plus bras but they use to not care anything over a 38 well that clearly wouldn't fit my 44Ds (at my heaviest). So I love and always brought the Clinique plunge bras. They don't fit anymore so I went to Victoria Secret and I fit into their bras no problem!

taragettingthin 06-21-2008 02:28 AM

I was working out today and while doing bicep workout, I actually saw muscle for the first time...not just arm moving! yay!

Seriously! That's a huge accomplishment. I have an awful hard time saying no to a nice cold beer with friends. Way to go!

My "skinny" jeans are becoming too big on me!!

I went to the store and was struck by a chocolate craving. I even went to the candy aisle and almost bought a bag of starbursts because they were on sale, and contemplated getting M&MS...but i turned around and walked away. I had my blue bunny fudge lites and my skinny cow ice cream sandwiches! No more chocolate needed. And ya know what, i haven't even eaten a whole ice cream sandwich yet. I just ate part of one b/c i wanted to know if i'd even like them (and i do!!)

Taylor86 06-21-2008 12:22 PM

This is the second week I have made my goal of working out 4 times a week.

And ya know what? I feel like going for 5!!
