OT, TTC question HELP!
 

Sorry to bother you girls, but I didn't know who else to ask. Does anyone on here have any experience with OPK's? DH and I are trying to have our first and i got a super dark line this morning (which is right on time) but does it count because it was with my first morning urine? (sorry to be so graphic) but I'm going nuts here :dizzy: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!

i volunteer at Planned Parenthood as a counselor, and if you called in I would say, "those preg tests are really accurate. you're probably pregnant." However, I do remember learning something about the first pee of the day when I was in training, unfortunately I don't remember what it was...not that helpful, I know. I'll see what else I can find.

Okay, so I'm probably not going to be much help here, but this is what I'm aware of from my own research (I'm ttc too.)

Look at the directions in your ovulation predictor kit (opk.) What is it measuring? Is it measuring you LH surge? Usually they want you to test later in the day because LH is harder to detect in the mornings, but if the line showed up, then I'd say it's time to grab hubby! ;)

Dh and I just started on this journey so I haven't gotten to the point of using an opk yet. I did get a book at the library called Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It talks about using a basal thermometer and charting. I'm not sure if I'll do this (I'm not a morning person~You take them temp first thing every day at the same time), but it seems to be the most fool proof method.

The problem I see with some opk's is that once it detects the surge you may have already ovulated and by then it's too late. I don't know if this is the case with yours, but some brands are that way from what I've read.

So, don't stress about it too much and have fun!

Ok, that is what i was thinking, i grabbed hubby yesterday when the line was darker than usual, but not darker than the control line, so hopefully i caught it right on time, it's good to have insurance though, if you know what i mean!!

the opks are supposed to work best with afternoon pee(i was a pro at the opks and hpts for a couple of years lol)
i would dtd anyway and try to get lucky if you can
