Default Anyone else struggle with sleep issues when dieting?

For me (especially lately) I tend to go over my limit the most when I stay up later than I intended or have to pull an all nighter for school or something. College students tend to keep irregular hours and it is difficult when I stay up late on the weekends (especially when I don't plan for it). I'll then be sleepy on monday, maybe eat a quicker breakfast than usual and be hungry again early in the afternoon. Because I'm taking an insane course load, I haven't been going out a whole lot. Even with practically no partying on the weekends I've had trouble going to bed and waking up at a consistent time.

Right now I couldn't sleep last night because I was anxious about an exam I have to take today at 8:30 am. I decided to give in at 1am and get up and go to the library. I was starving, I ate (at 2am 2 hot pockets and a box of rasins, 730 cal) and now it's 4am and I have eaten nearly half my calories for the day. I'm hoping I will be exhauseted today and go to bed at an early hour and get back on track tommorow.

I must be getting old, getting up at 1 am to go to the library is something I'm not even able to do any more. :|

I don't have problems with sleep vs. food, usually, but dieting or not dieting, I've always be a person who doesn't munch at night. No matter how loud my stomach is growling, I just don't eat at night, I can't be bothered to get up to open the fridge, and hunger doesn't prevent me from sleeping. Eating well and exercising also tend to make falling asleep easier for me (and, conversely, overeating causes me insomnia. Go fig...).

What/how are you eating exactly? Maybe there's a pattern that could be broken, replaced by something else? For instance, avoiding starches at dinner has turned out to really curb my appetite in the evening, so maybe it could work and help in someone else's case? Or late-night snacks could be something like cottage cheese w/ fruits (probably more filling than the average 'junk' snack)?

I totally understand! My course load is very heavy this semester, and trying to balance everything sucks. sleep is usually what suffers now which means i have to really budget my food to allow for the late night hunger. and now, even when i have time to sleep i can't fall asleep now! no matter how hard i try to go to bed early it never happens haha! last friday i went to bed at 10! I was so exhausted from my irregular week!

yes! when i limit my calories too much and dont get enough carbs before bed i cant sleep well and i wake up way too early! weird!

I also am not sleeping much but I thought it was because I am too excited or nervous about my morning weigh ins but maybe it does have to do with the limited carbs!
