We used to have weekly chats, didn't see one for this week. Thought I would start the idea up again. Feel free to post whenever you want or whenever you can. Here is to a great week ladies!
I haven't been good about posting in these.... Since I've been home it's been a wild ride to say the least.
BUT...
I got into a great running routine in Nashville and I'm happy to say it has carried over back in CO, although I've had my 10 year old brother this week so it's been a lot of hiking, rafting, and just "going".
I'm starting to get a little out of hand with carbs- the breads and pastas are becoming more than a regular part of my diet, so I'm going to work on scaling back Hope everyone has a good rest of the week!
Well another workday another dollar right? Guess I should catch everyone up since I have been on hiatus for a bit. I moved back to Denver, started a job in advertising and launched my photography business. My husband took a position with a new paper and was recently promoted. This means we are on opposite schedules and hardly see each other. These days I am working both my regular job and my photo shoots and trying to keep sane Just got back from a vaca to Vegas which led me to gain 8 lbs and left me at my highest weight ever... 136 lbs. I miss running, I miss working out like it was going out of style, I miss planning a meal and then not feeling sick after eating because I stopped when I was full. I refuse to buy new clothes and need to get back to fitting in the old ones lol. So here I am back on 3fc and back on track... 'nuff said. Here is to an awesome week!
Jen - A great running routine? I am so jealous. I have lost all my endurance from lack of effort. Thinking of starting the c25k again though. I love the feeling I get from running, can't get anything like it from anything else...believe me I have tried!
Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a good week. I started C25K for the first time yesterday, and surprised myself by getting through the first workout! I honestly wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it. I still can't see myself jogging for 30 minutes straight, but I'll just take it a week at a time, and hopefully I'll keep surprising myself!
may i ask, what is c25k?
I have gotten back on the bandwagon of losing weight. I'm not at my heaviest, but my husband and I have decided to try to have another child and I want to lose 20 more pounds before I get pregnant again. This week is going okay so far. I'm feeling very lazy though. I need a big motivation-kick right in the middle of my butt...help!
C25K stands for Couch to 5K, and it's a running program. It starts out doing walking/running intervals and you slowly work your way up to straight running. I think it's on the cool running website, but maybe someone else can confirm that?
Hey everyone! This is my second week of c25k and it's honestly a breeze for me, but I like following an exercise plan that makes me do something extra 3 times a week. I haven't lost any more weight, so I'm completely cutting the crap from my diet (even though I stayed under 1,600 calories before, I ate junk food sometimes, and I think it stopped me from losing more weight).
Since I exercise pretty frequently, any day where I don't exercise, I feel like a lazy ***. Infact, I'm at my sedentary job right now, and I feel like I should be moving about, even though my job requires me being at a computer. I hate sitting on my butt all day!
sgregg - c25K is a 3 month running program that starts out easy enough to allow a total non runner to be able to complete a 5k run. It is on the coolrunning.com website. I am so happy to have someone else trying to tone up before pregnancy! My husband and I are trying in January and I would love to be in the best shape of my life to kind of help things go smoothly.
NighengaleShane - I almost completed the c25k last Summer. I didn't lose weight per say but O toned up a ton, put on a lot of muscle and lost fat. Same weight but diff shape. You should take your measurements. Then when you know where you are starting with both measurements and weight you can see progress a lot easier...
TxBrittany - I am starting the c25k tonight. I did it last Summer but then went on a non workout hiatus and lost all my endurance. Need to retrain my body. You'll get to 30 mins
junebug- Glad to hear you're in a good place with your running workout. Keep it up! Aren't carbs just evil? They taste so good that's its easy to overdo it. I always try eating extra veggies and fruit to fill me up before I stuff myself with carbs, but let's face it: pasta and bread tastes so much better.
stephie- Vacations can be major snags in even the best intentions. The important thing is you're trying to get back on your feet, which is the best thing you can do. I have faith that you'll be in a healthy routine in no time.
brittany- I'm a c25k-er too. The best thing about the program is that you will find yourself constantly surprising yourself. You'll look ahead at the program and be like "5 minutes straight? whoa how am I supposed to do that?" and before you know it you're running 25 minutes a few weeks later. I made it to week #7 so far which is 25 minute runs for each workout and I can't believe how well the program has prepared me for it. I'll be running 30 minutes before I know it. Stick with it! It's the only thing that has gotten me into a running routine and sticking to it.
sgregg- welcome back on the bandwagon! You can do this
NighengaleShane- I only wish I had a sedentary job. I'm on my feet way too much. lol. At least you're staying active in other ways. week #2 of the c25k is pretty easy if you've previously been working out, but just wait, it gets much more challenging. Cutting out the junk is a good idea, just make sure to give yourself a treat every once in a while.
This week is going pretty well. I've got some big tests coming up that I'm nervous about and keep on putting off studying for. It's like I want to relax and enjoy my summer but this little nagging voice tells me to study...and I've been ignoring it. It won't be too much to handle but I'm stressing about it. Especially because I won't have much time to study this weekend because my friend is coming in from out of town. At least next week is the last week of summer classes. Amen!
As for diet and exercise...I have been doing quite well. I'm on week 7 of the
c25k program and I've been lifting and practicing volleyball for the season with a friend from the team. Definetly have been feeling and seeing some changes, and I can't wait to show off my body on the first day of the semester. I wonder if people will notice...
Just posted progress pics on the mini goals photo album. I've wanted to do that for such a long time. Yay!
glitter -It's good to hear that you and others are having success with it! I just went and looked at your mini-goal pictures, and that right there was motivation enough for me to keep going! You look awesome! It made me wish I had taken before pictures. Although I'm only down 5 pounds so far, so I could still do it!
NightengaleShane i totally know how you feel about sitting on all on your butt at a job! sitting at a computer just makes me want to get up and move. it also makes the day feel so much longer.
glitterlicious i just saw pictures from the mini-goal album, you're looking great! i definitely notice changes in your mid section. congratulations! i can't wait to see you at your goal.
i'm going on vacation around china for about 2 weeks, and leaving this sunday..i'm a little scared about not being able to work out, or plan my meals.. but my mom said we're going to be out, hiking, and touring around all day in like 85 F humid weather..so hopefully things will be ok.
kateconfessional - that's for sure! Sitting still at a computer makes the day so long, and my day is long enough as it is - 10 hours! I read somewhere that anyone who sits still for more than 3.5 hours a day is prone to obesity... and I'm thinking, "DAMN, isn't that MOST people?" Most jobs are sedentary, unless you work construction, are a surveyor, a meter reader, or a traveling salesperson (well, besides being a rockstar, professional athlete, or other Hollywood-famous-type career). Did I miss anything? Haha.
stephiewilliams - I think I should measure myself later today... I just want the scale to budge because I'm still overweight. But on the other hand, if I could fit my "thin" clothes at a weight higher than my GW and still have great abs, then I'd settle for it. The thing is, I'm FAR, far away from that right now! I have flab and jelly.
glitterlicious - your mini goal pictures are fabulous... you look SO good.
Kate - I'm also going on vacation (next Thursday) to visit my family in Minnesota, and I'm worried too. I'll only be gone for 4 days, though, so my goal is just to maintain my weight while I'm there. My dad does Body for Life though, so there are usually lots of whole grains and fruits in the house, and I'm going to call my mom and ask her to pick up a few things at the grocery store for me. Hopefully they didn't get rid of their treadmill when they moved!
It's about 7:30 a.m. here and I just finished my morning workout! I love going to the gym in the mornings when it is completely empty and getting my workout out of the way so I can relax when I get home. Plus, I work out at the little gym in my apartment complex and when I go in the evenings it's full of buff guys with rap music blaring so loud I can't even hear my iPod, grunting and checking themselves out in the mirror, with no weight equipment left for me to use! I try to avoid that!
Ok so I went home last night, got the books I needed, took my puppy for a run and did great as far as eating goes. You have no idea how proud I am. I am absolutelly thrilled. The hardest part was when my husband said he was going to go get a late night nack and asked me if I wanted something. Ofcourse you know I definitely did want something. But I declined. Even though it was a temporary disappointment this morning I don't feel guilty, or full or disappointed in MYSELF which is what really matters.
Today I have an hour of overtime which should put me home around 6:30. Husband is off but I need to get my butt to the gym and start Aug off right. Lets do this!
glitter - Thank you for the kind words! Isn't it great to have something like the beginning of a new semester to work toward and show off at!
kate - Vaca to China huh? Hiking and touring all day sounds fun, 85 degree weather during all of that doesnt lol.
dreamer - I hear you about running on machines vs. running outside. I am redoing the c25k and trying to do it exclusively outside until the weather no longer will allow me to. I can also totally relate about the binging...I need to watch myself too.
NightengaleShane - DEFINITELY take your measurements. And remember it didn't take a month to put the weight on and its not going to take only a month to take it off...babysteps
txBrittany - I wish I had the will to go to the gym in the morning. I have an hour commute to the office which puts me up around 5:45 if I want to look decent. The thought of getting up at 4:45 scares me. Good for you though!
