I thought this month was going to be different b/c I actually lost 2 lbs just like that. However, I've put them back on just as easily after my period started. I know its mostly water weight but its discouraging
I think it is about 2 pounds. I am bloated and my period should be starting any day now. I from last week I am up about a little less than 2 pounds. So I think it is around 2 pounds. I guess we will have to see what the other gals say.....
I put on like a couple of pounds but it does vary.
I remember about a year ago when I dieted (and failed) that some months I would put on 5lbs, while others I would just plateau slightly.
However, if you do put on weight, towards the end of your period it should drop off.
It really varies for me (probably somewhat due to what I'm eating, not how much, but just how much sodium and whatnot). Some months I'll keep on losing and others I'll gain 5lbs for the week. I think a lot of it has to do with how much water I'm getting and how much salt I'm eating.
I usually don't bloat, or very little. At most, I'll probably see a 1lbs gain. But if it's a bother, maybe you can just avoid planning any weigh-in on those days? (If you already know you systematically gain, well, it's just going to shoot you down psychologically, so it's not terrific...)
Oh Lordy, I really get it bad before my period! I gain like 4.5 pounds, partly due to fluid, but also due to the fact that my appetite pretty much doubles before my period! I'm constantly so hungry, and I crave everything - sweet, salty, chewy, crunchy, smooth, I don't care, just FEED ME!! But if I give in to it, then resume dieting when it all dies down it tends to come off fairly quickly, so I don't mind giving in.
I'm another person who doesn't really gain weight from TOM. UNLESS I know I've been HORRIBLE with eating high-sodium foods. Then I may gain a pound or two.
I gain about 5 pounds -- with the PMS overeating (especially chocolate) and the water retention. 3 or 4 of that sheds in a couple of days -- and I have to deal with the 1 or 2 pounds of actual weight I put back on. When I was heavier, I remember gaining 14 pounds one week of my period. Craziness.
For me, it varies wildly. This time around, I didn't gain anything; last month, I gained 2lbs; a few months ago I think I had a 5lb TOM. It depends on so much else in my lifestyle that I can't really predict it and try not to focus on it.
I always gain about 5 pounds usually in bloating and indulging my cravings for anything. It's usually sweet stuff or salty crunchy stuff that I just gotta have. My husband has learned by now not to mess with my cravings at that time of the month. I've learned to give into my cravings to prevent binge eating and to prevent obsessive thinking about food lol. But I always lose it and go back to my old weight by the time my period is over. It is annoying though.
Hi i'm new but thought i'd join in- i always always gain around 2-3 lbs a few days before i'm due on- goes straight on my tummy and my breasts get really painful and swollen- doesn't last though, and a few days after i've started my period the pounds fall off again.
