Personal trainer

  • Well, I finally scheduled some sessions with a PT today after procrastinating over it for weeks. I've been trying to do it solo for awhile now, but just haven't seen much in the way of results. Which got me to thinking maybe I'm not doing something right or doing the right excersizes. My routine at the gym has been pretty limited b/c I'm not really comfortable using a lot of the equiptment by myself.
So I was wondering, does anyone else use a PT? Did you notice a difference in the way you felt/lost weight with a trainer than when you were working out on your own?
  • Hi Trendle

This is absolutely personal opinion, but I feel that a personal trainer is worth the money. I have hired personal trainers on different occasions, but usually because I too was not experiencing the results I want. A PT always "kicks it up a notch" for me. My workouts are more intense and more results driven than when I work out on my own.

It's also more fun to have someone to complain at when it starts to burn. Have fun and if you don't click with your PT find someone else.

    Good luck!!
  • I love PTs - and if you can afford one I would say go for it - they will def kick your workout up a lot - and will make you do excersizes you never did before or thought of to keep it interesting. Like today i was planking with my feet up on a stability ball and my arms on a mat.
I have just started working with mine (friday will be my fourth time in 2 weeks) and I am sure I will have muscles developement quickly - as I have before - now just have to stick to the low cals more carefully and keep up with interval training when I am not with him.
  • I have heard they're awesome but I can't afford one right now, however I say go for it if you can Good luck sweetie!
  • Thanks for all the great comments

I'd have to say the worst part so far, has been the cost. But I guess I'm just at a point where I'm so frustrated that any help I can get will be worth it.
  • Hopefully I will be able to weigh in on friday and tell u what my results have been so far.
(though I think they are noticible)
    B
  • i use one twice a week - i love it!!!

i use a private trainer that will meet me at a gym, in my home, or set up work outs on the beach.

    its FANTASTIC!
  • if i could afford it, i would have one. i think the accountability would help. also, they will keep you in good form during all your exercises, which will cut back on the chance of injury (and wasted time) a LOT.

    Enjoy!
  • I've had my trainer since last July and I've seen major differences. There were times where i would only see her every 2 or 3 weeks just to get a new workout and get measured and weighed, this saved me some money. Now i'm back to 1 time a week b/c they had a special at my gym.
I definatly agree with everyone if you can afford it, they are definatly helpful and really get you motivated. I know we aren't loosing weight for anyone but ourselves but i find myself not wanting to let my trainer down when she weighs or measures me so that gives me a little more incentive.
And she's a lot of fun
  • I was going to say that when running last night I noticed my posture was better than normal - I credit it to my trainer and his major core working with me. (and the hills were a little easier)
  • I definately agree with everyone here. Its pricey, but I have found the accountability the major motivation for myself. I have had about 10 sessions with mine so far, and I can definately see improvements, in that I can actually SEE some muscles now. Also, I would agree with the person who was talking about their posture and the core workout. My trainer definately pushes me harder than I would push myself, and we have not had the same hour workout yet (although many of the components repeat every 3 or 4th time).

    Good Luck!
