  • What do you guys like to munch on when you need a snack but dont want the calories? I know celery and air popped popcorn are pretty good. But is there anything that has some flavour? I'd love some suggestions!
  • I love low fat mozz cheese sticks, they're great. And I also have a banana with 2 TBL of natural peanut butter, yum!
  • LF string cheese
Dannon Crave Control Yogurt (It is more expensive then normal yogurt but it has protein added which makes you feel fuller longer)
Veggies – Green pepper strips, carrots, cucumber slices
Fruit – Clemintains and apples are my favorites
Rice cakes – you can keep a variety of flavors around that way you can fill whatever your craving (chocolate, barbecue, apple cinnamon)
Jello SF pudding for my junk food craving
  • My favorite right now is 6 Triscuits with 1 wedge Laughing Cow Light Cheese. YUM-O!! Also the Gerber Graduates Finger Foods Puffs are awesome!! They're made for babies, but they're not very many calories (1/2 cup are only 25 calories) and are great for when you just need to munch. The strawberry banana, and the sweet potato flavored ones are my favorite!
  • When I have access to a microwave, I like to have a sweet potato sprinkled with cinnamon for an afternoon snack. I just poke some holes in it, wrap in a damp paper towel, and microwave for 8-10 minutes. It's so filling and delicious! Also, tons of fiber and antioxidants...and it keeps me full for 3-4 hours
  • my favorite snack is a few dried apricots and a small handful of dried almonds. I always look forward to that on days when I've planned it. Carrots (or other veggies) and hummus is my runner-up favorite snack.
  • I just discovered a VERY yummy snack....graham crackers with peanut butter. It tastes a lot like those girl scout peanut butter patties. I LOVE those!
  • If I'm craving savory, I usually have some whole-wheat crackers about (Kashi's TLC or Triscuits are pretty good)

For sweet tooth, whole fruits (just bought my week's worth at farmer's market today) and the occasional tic-tac & mint (which usually leaves your mouth too numb to bother sticking anything else in there). Starbursts aren't bad either (about 20 cals. each, so not bad, unless you pop in a whole roll at a time.)
  • sliced fruit (even put some chili seasoning), apples and cheese, diced tomatos cucumber and onion salad - YUM!!!! The classic: soft pretzle with honey mustard. Yogurt. And the ever popular small piece of dark chocolate!!
  • This sounds weird but I really like dill pickles wrapped with sliced turkey dipped in mustard. I have been eating that a lot recently.

And then I mentioned this in another thread recently but one of my favorite snacks is edamame. I get the frozen ones from Trader Joes. Just pop some in microwave for 2 mins and they are ready. Soo tasty and very filling!
  • Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm definitely going to try a few of them out next time I need a snack.
  • don't forget sugar free jell-o! it's naturally fat free, and like 8 calories/serving - so usually i have about 2 servings. you can buy it pre-made in cups, or buy the box and make it yourself. you can also get sugar free jell-o pudding mixes. if you make them with skim milk (blend it up in the blender to really get the powder mixed up well) they have about 80 calories/serving, or again, i think you can buy them pre-made in the cups.
  • Big glass of flavored seltzer water or a mug of Passion tea. Occassionally if I need something to actually have in my mouth I go for a hard candy or a small lollipop.

If I'm still hungry, I go for either a handful of nuts, a light starch, or a fruit. Granted I'm on a plan that allows only a certain amount of food each day, so I plan accordingly to that. Eating every 2-3 hours does typically keep hunger cravings at bay.
  • I've lately fallen in love with cottage cheese and pretzels - Trader Joes carries this product, it's sorta pretzel chips. Basically flat super-thin and crunchy pretzels. I use the cottage cheese as a dip with the pretzel chips, it's so good. Lots of protein, too. Or, a small box of raisins, or a banana.
  • ^^
I just saw those pretzel chips at Trader Joes but didn't buy them. They're good?
