Talking South Beach Or Weight Watchers/counting Calories??

HI GUYS!! I'm a newbie and I need some help!! Ok, about 6 years ago I lost a lot of weight just counting my calories. Well, since I have gotten married, I have gained it all back. I'm going back on a diet again and we just bought a treadmill and I've started walking, but I cant decide which way to go this time. Its been a long time since I have worried about what I ate and I just wanted some input on what you guys are doing and some tips! I could really use it!! THANKS!!!

If counting calories really worked for you before, then you should do it again.

You have to do what you feel is right for you. I personally am doing calorie counting.. I've done SB and others in the past.. this is what works for me. Everybody is different .. i would suggest you do something that you know you'll be able to stick with. Good luck to you!

I think if you're familiar and comfortable with calorie counting, then you don't need to waste your time/money trying to switch to another method. Welcome to 3FC!

If you don't find counting calories hard, then I recommend doing it.. weight watchers is really just counting calories but in an easier way from what i gather, and south beach is pretty low carb which is supposed to in turn lower your calories.. I myself can't stick to diets which say any foods are completely off limits. I find counting calories and just trying to make healthier choices the easier option. I also try to stick to the 55% carb, 30% fat, 15% protein model. Counting calories has also worked for me before, but I was dumb, and restricted my calories too much. lost 25lbs in a couple months in a very unhealthy way, then I just went back to eating everything I wanted! So that's why I'm here today after gaining it all back PLUS 30 pounds in just 2 yrs! The real way to lose weight I've learned, is to make sure the way you are eating is a way that you'd be happy with forever

Thanks guys for all your comments. I was pretty sure I just wanted to back to calorie counting, since I had done it before and it did work for me. I'll just have to knock the rust off and get use to it again! I have been trying to (semi) do SB this past week and it has seemed so hard!! I guess thats why I started doubting it. Anyways, thanks for all your suggestions and I'll be on here a lot for a while looking for tips!! Thanks!!!

I don't calorie-count, mostly because it's just a pain in the butt. Every now and then I get thinking I *should*, and I go fire up my fitday and use it for a couple days, but then I get irritated by it and stop again.

So instead, I work on eating natural, non-processed, healthy foods; balancing my protein/fat/carb ratio; and recognizing proper portion sizes. Along with working out, that's worked pretty well so far.

But if calorie-counting is what works for you, do it! What's best for each person is highly individual.

I don't calorie count or follow an official plan. I just make healthy choices. I had great success doing this about 2 years ago and then I got pregnant with my 2nd son and gained it all back. The odd day I will plug my info into fit day to see how I'm doing and I'm always on the right track
