Default Effexor - did you gain on it?

I'm currently on Effexor...I read that people gain weight on it. I'm worried now, because I was depressed because of my sudden weight gain (19 lbs in two months).

Any experiences? THanks!

I haven't taken it myself but I was recently put on a AD myself and my friend told me that she actually lost weight on effexor. Good luck. Did you find out what caused that kind of weight gain in such a short period of time. Doesn't seem normal.

When I took it two years ago I lost weight (only like 5 lbs., but it was still a loss).

I've been on Effexor for about 6 years and it hasn't caused me to gain any weight (nor has it made losing weight difficult). Depakote made me gain about 40 lbs, though, about 8 years ago.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

I gained 19 lbs in two months because I turned to food for comfort. I was depressed since last year, but I didn't agree to take medication until recently.

Oh!! I know what you mean about being depressed and turning to food for comfort. Anyway, good luck on the meds.
