Wow, I think I might actually have something to post here finally! :carrot:
Today, I put on a shirt that was usually tight around my abs - the spot right above the waist (this is where I carry a large amount of fat), and my shirt fit!
I normally would either put on, get discouraged and not wear it, or put it on and try to stretch it out - not today!
MY SHIRT FIT RIGHT OUT OF THE DRYER! WOOHOO I can tell I have also lost some inches in my arms, as for the past few weeks, all of my t-shirts are fitting better in my upper arms.
I truly would rather be able to wear the clothes I own (and I own all styles of clothing ranging from size 16 to 30, I currently wear 26/28) than see the scale go down. That is my main goal, to be able to wear all the clothes in my closet.

I know I have not posted in ages, but I do have a NSV to report. I'm now in smaller clothes than I have been in over 5 years. I hate to be kind of mean but while I have lost weight my soon to be ex has gained it. I've lost almost 70 lbs from my heighest weight. He's gained almost that much. Guess what comes around goes around. :)

buckettgirl -- I totally get what you mean about the clothes. I call it "shopping in my closet". Over the weekend we found a whole passel of 18/20 clothes for me to wear now! Some are actually too small, but these are now the smallest clothes I can "closet shop" into! Real shopping after that!

I was about 300 when I started and in 28s or 30s! So, you can do this!!

Tammy, good to see you posting! I have a NSV as well. Last night I went to drop off my taxes, and they asked me to wait in the chairs. I have never been comfortable in the chairs they have because they are the utilitarian office chairs and it was tight to sit in the chairs. I sat down in them last night and noticed that my hips were not touching the arms, I actually had room to move in the chair!

So far I'm not fitting into smaller clothes, but I can't wait for that! I did notice that walking over a mile the other day didn't make me as tired as it used to. I got inside and took the stairs up 2 flights without once thinking wishfully about the elevator. I think my bra cup size is shrinking too. That seems to be one of the first places I lose the weight.

Tammy, I counted my ex-husband as 190# gone! It was a huge weight off my shoulders, if not off my body, per-se. Good luck to you in your "new" body & new life!

EDIT: I just got another NSV myself - tried on my pantsuit (bought in November, and by January the pants were too tight) and the pants are comfortably, yet not dangerously, loose. Thus inspired, I tried on another pair of trousers that I haven't worn since February, for fear of bursting the zipper. I can wear them fearlessly now, too!

My husband actually noticed that my pannus (the apron of fat that hangs down) is much looser than it used to be.

I was standing in my moms kitchen helping her do dishes after sunday diner and my brother walks in and starts pointing at me going "look at her, wow she's lost alot of weight" I just beemed, My brother doesn't notice much or complement much so I was pretty proud.

I also was running out of pants that fit, and didn't really want to buy any new ones only to have them not fit in a couple of months, my mom said she had some jean from a while ago (the last time I did the weight loss) and to my amazement I'm in a size 20 ( I started at 26-28) Great weekend.

I've been absolutely frustrated lately. I've gotten back into exercising regularly, I've cut down on my portion sizes and I've cut out a lot of junk in my diet. (Junk including too much of good for you foods) The scale fluctuates... and fluctuates... and fluctuates... Every single weight loss effort I've done at this weight, I've lost at least 10 lbs within a week or 2, with just changing my diet. The only difference is now I'm taking a BCP that supposedly makes you gain 15-20 lbs within the first few months. I'm on my second month of taking it with no weight gain. This morning though, I put on a pair of pants that I bought a month ago or so and they were pretty tight. This morning, the pants are loose. Hopefully the scale will start to show an improvement as well.

teapotdynamo 03-30-2006 10:56 AM

Nelie - I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have found that BC makes a HUGE difference for me. I don't actually *gain*, I just stop losing for a while until I have been on the (same) pill for a few months, then voila -- a big scale loss. I'm struggling now because I had to shift from the generic pill to the name-brand, then back to generic. Believe it or not, that makes a difference, too... even slight differences in the pill make my weight loss go haywire. I hope the same thing happens for you and there's a big scale drop!

nelie 03-30-2006 11:41 AM

Jennifer,
That is encouraging to hear. With PCOS, my hormones always seem to be out of whack and the doctor thought this new pill would help me. He didn't mention though that people typically gain weight on it, I found that with a little research afterwards. I know it also takes your body a couple months to adjust to the new hormones. I'm hopeful :)

Ok so I had this rant yesterday about needing to kick my behind in gear. So I was kinda upset with myself and feeling a little down. Well I went out with some friends last night. My best guy friend was talking directly across the table from me and since I have a mild form of ADD (I can't just sit there, my hands have to be playing with something) I was playing with my class ring. Usually I have to use lotion or something to get the darn thing off my finger cuz I had gained so much weight. I was tugging on it with the same force I normally use and in the middle of his sentence my ring went flying across the table at him. It bounced between his legs, hit the chair and rolled under the table. I started laughing so hard, I started to cry, as were my other friends. So that brightened my mood to know I can get this ring off my finger without struggling.

One of my friends told me the other day that her husband asked her if I had been losing weight. :) That was nice to hear!

Finally getting around to posting my NSV for the past few weeks:

I cleaned all the bad food (i.e., high calorie, low nutrition) out of my fridge and either gave it to my friends or threw it in the trash. I did the same thing with the stuff in my cabinets. I'm now happy to say that the only "bad" thing in the fridge is just one can of beer -- the rest is veggies, fruit, lean meat and low-fat milk. It's been that way for two weeks and I haven't brought anything bad into the house.

I haven't eaten at a fast food place in over 2 1/2 weeks now -- I'm finding that I miss that type of stuff less and less.

I haven't had a coke in two weeks either. It's just easier for me to cut things out for now, cold turkey. I'm drinking green tea and I really like it.

I've moved my exercise bike into my den and I ride it during the commercials when I'm watching t.v. -- I'm gonna slowly work up to resting during commercials instead!

Congrats to everyone who had a NSV this month!

~Misty

I actually have a NSV to post! I usually never post anything.. even the smaller stuff.

When I first started I bought a sports bra because it was cheep, I figured it'd fit. I was so wrong, I couldn't get it into both my arms last I remember! This morning i went to exercise, and I couldn't find any of my other ones, thought I'd give the one that didn't fit a try. I could put it on and a wore it!! :D I was so happy!

Good job to everyone else's NSVs!! :D
