Saturday, I went looking for a denim skirt and found one I really liked in Express. I picked up a 12 and 10 to take into the dressing room with me. First, I tried on the 12, but I was swimming in it. Then, I tried the 10 thinking it would probably be perfect (and I was already thrilled - a 10?!). But even that one was a little baggy, so I asked the saleswoman to get me an 8 (thinking she would probably look at me and be like "No way can YOU wear an 8" -- see how the head stuff still does a number on me?). Guess what - it fit absolutely perfectly!!!! An 8? I haven't worn an 8, well, ever! I was so thrilled that I bought myself a pair of knee-high boots at a thrift store to celebrate. And then I took some pics to send to my hubby who has been away for several weeks on a business trip in Alaska.

Hope I can work up the confidence to wear this stuff out, but I can't tell you how pleased I am!!! :D

Sheila53 02-06-2006 03:48 PM

How cool is that! You really must wear your new skirt and boots out and also post that photo that you're sending to your DH. We want to see!! You're such an inspiration to all of us. :)

My NSV is that I didn't eat a single chip at our little Superbowl party yesterday, even when my team lost. I stuck with shrimp, carrots, and green olives.

teapotdynamo 02-06-2006 05:06 PM

Congrats, Sheila. That's a major victory. It's so hard when you're surrounded by deliciousness to stick to the healthy stuff. But don't you just love shrimp? It's so tasty, yet so good for you!!!!

(p.s. I'll have to take another round of photos for consumption on the site -- I failed to mention the fishnets in hubby's versions! )

Oh yes, goodness me, I don't think we could handle seeing fishnets! :p

Awww, go ahead and post the pic for us ... unless all you're wearing is the boots and fishnets  :o

DishyFishy 02-06-2006 06:11 PM

Ooh, you little tinker, Jennifer! Size 8! :cheer: Of course, I've heard clothes that small exist....

 You're so naughty, Jilly!

Great NSV, Sheila! :high: Resisting chips is indeed impressive.

I love yours, Helen. Only two months until I come face to face with my sister who has always been the thinner one....

maegdaeien 02-06-2006 08:09 PM

You guys are all making such great progress! It's really inspiring, and I hope that soon I'll be able to fit into a size 12 again. :goodscale

lucky 02-06-2006 09:24 PM

Oh, Jennifer! I am really excited for you. I know exactly how you feel because the first outfit I bought when I realized I was a size 8 was a black leather mini skirt complete with knee high boots and *gasp* fishnets! Don't shy away from wearing it out and about either. I was worried that I'd feel self conscious but I actually caught myself strutting - and it felt GREAT! I admit that I didn't actually end up wearing the fishnets but only because they were a little much with the rest of the outfit. But, by golly, I'm going to wear those babies somewhere!

My NSV for this month is that I've managed to gain 7 pounds without completely freaking out. I calmly assessed the situation and realized that I'd been paying too little attention to my portions and snacking when I shouldn't. Plus, I quit exercising as often as I should. So, I woke up this morning back on plan and ready to tackle those 7 pounds and 15 more after that. Quite frankly, I would never have caught myself this early in the past. And by the time I did catch myself I would have figured it was too late and just kept right on cruising until I regained everything. So, I'm feeling really good about the way I've handled the situation and that I've nipped it in the bud BEFORE I outgrew those size 8's. Look out 4's, here I come!

teapotdynamo 02-07-2006 08:51 AM

Alas, Jilly, I afraid you're going to have to imagine the salacious details, and I'll leave it at that.

Lucky, thanks for the vote of confidence. I think I could pull off the fishnets (so to speak!) & boots with a more conservative top, like a sweater or something. I think the name of the game in not looking like a prostitute is balance & the element of surprise, no?

I'm glad you managed to do damage control before it REALLY got out of hand. I realize more and more how easy it is to just sort of slip into bad habits. but from everything I've seen, one of the big tenets of maintenance is knowing when to draw a line in the sand, and you've done that. I have no doubt you'll be at goal in no time (and I hope to join you there very very shortly!).

:o Yep, you got it! When I tried on my outfit the sweater I had chosen wasn't exactly conservative. So, I let my DH choose and he liked the sweater better than the fishnets. Right then I knew I'd done the right thing by asking because if a MAN says the fishnets are too much imagine what other women would have thought!;)

I can't resist sharing this one!

Today I was feeling down in the dumps and sluggish about exercise (but I did it!). So I decided to do a little try-on session with some of my favorite clothes in my closet that I cannot fit. I didn't expect to even be able to get anything up these thighs, but I did! I have a bunch of size 16 skirts that I could not pull up before that I can get all the way up now (can't zip them but I'm working on that). And...the piece de resistance...my favorite pair of jeans (I wore them nonstop last spring) that are a 16 from the Gap pull up and allllmmmost button! I'm beaming. My size 18 jeans fit but are a tad snug at the waist. Talk about motivation!

Nori71 02-07-2006 06:11 PM

Congrats to everyone for these great NSV's!

Today I noticed in the mirror at the gym that the roll of fat on my back, at my waistline, is dissapearing! My shirt wasn't riding up on it like it used to do!!

I'm a SAHM and have been stuck in the rut of running around in sporty, comfy yoga style clothes and t-shirts. I just didn't want to bother buying a wardrobe in size 20. Anyways today I decided to get out the stuff - with waistbands! - that I wore last summer. My 18's fit perfectly. Even sittin down!:D And I can get my size 16 jeans up over my hips although they will not zip without some unnatural sounds coming out from deep inside. I've been working out like crazy and all this cardio is doing something!!:carrot:

So I think I will shock DH tonight by being in jeans and a shirt when he comes home instead of my usual sporty look (dumpy is maybe a better word for it)...OK, it's not fishnets or anything...but it'll do for now!

Great job everyone! I love reading about the new clothes sizes!!!

I actually got a compliment by a coworker today. A couple coworkers know and always say how I'm doing good. But today out of now where a coworker said 'how much weight have you lost?' and I said almost 30 lbs (probably 30 now since I was .4 lbs away) and way she said 'You can really tell you look good!' then she asked about if I was doing weight watchers and then she said thats really good.

Hopefully it will develop into motivation to do the exercise and stuff too! :)

Sheila53 02-16-2006 03:58 PM

Okay, it's been over a week since someone has had an NSV. I'm sure that's not right!!

Today I was lifting weights (a bicep exercise), and a guy was staring at me. I kind of saw him out of the corner of my eye. After I completed my set, he comes over to me, and says, you know, you have the best form of anyone I've seen doing that exercise. That made me feel good!! I happened to see my personal trainer, and told her about it. She was thrilled--let's her know she's a good teacher.

Also, at last week's training session, I got measured, and I've lost another 5 inches, mostly in my chest--wouldn't you know? Didn't lose anymore bodyfat this time around, but I was happy with the inches lost.

YP1 02-16-2006 05:26 PM

I'll give you one. I got my race t-shirt through for a 10k I'm doing.

It's a SMALL. And IT FITS!!!

I've never been small!!! Ever!!! :carrot:
