So, inquiring minds want to know--are you going to go for the doughnut or pick a new treat?
I think I'll skip it altogether for a while. I think stress was making me head for the doughnut shop (conveniently located a few doors down from my gym, btw). And I thought I was being good by getting the muffin instead of a doughnut! If I absolutely have to have something with my cereal on Friday for a treat, maybe I'll go for the piece of low calorie bread toasted, with a little honey or jam.
  • Quote: Shannon, that little puppy of yours is so CUTE!! He (she?) reminds me of my Louie when he's going after ..... um..... like, anything that he thinks he could fit into his mouth, swallow, and digest! (Ok, so he might not be thinking of the digesting part.)

What a cutie your little guy is!
Thank Sarah. My boy (Rico) is like my baby. He was going after something...my face to lick (eww!). That's my little boy though.
  • Quote: Ohh, where can I find the recipe for these?

Here's a link to the recipes...hard to believe I made it 5 years ago - My Breakfast Cookies. There are lots of different varrieties so you don't get bored. I haven't made them in a while, but I use to bake up several batches and keep them in baggies in the fridge- a few seconds in the microwave & its like fresh baked.
  • Thanks! I'll have to try these soon!
  • Thanks to this thread I just checked out fit day. Very neat, kind of a challenge to find what I ate. I assume that gets easier as your personal list gets bigger. Very cool and and eye opener to see the charts, etc. For those of you who haven't - check it out. I'm going to try to journal on it for awhile. DOn't spend a whole lot of time at the PC though and don't want to lose 3FC time! I learn so much here.

He's adorable! Man, I would make out with my little Louie if I could, I find him so irresistable! Woopsie, was that TMI? I just love that dog.....
  • *Snort!*

Far as the calories go, Marge, you know about our little Caribou Coffee revelation, but I'll share it here, too. They started serving baked goods produced in-house by Caribou HQ a couple months ago.

A couple weeks ago, I awoke to Howie loudly lamenting from our office, "I had to look! Oh, man, ignorance is bliss!". What? He'd gone to their website to look at the nutritional info. It listed our popovers as having 580 calories and a whopping 30g fat!

We've been enjoying their cinnamon bun popovers for the last month or two, going under the assumption that they're 190 calories and 10g fat -- That's what their 3-ring binder of laminated product pages told us. Guess the pages they'd sent out with the new line of baked goods was wrong, eh?

We should have known...I mean, their low-fat cranberry orange scones are 380 calories and 6g fat. I just told myself they were higher because they added so much sugar to replace the missing fat. *sigh*

No WONDER we'd not been losing very well when eating one or two of them a week!
  • I know exactly what you mean about being suprised with the calorie content of certain foods. I've been tending to stay away from anything I don't know the caloric value of and been eating much more fruits, veggies, grains and lean meats. Can't go wrong there.

  • Kimberley, it's shocking, isn't it? even when you do know the truth in your heart

I sounded so angelic saying I'd have the low cal bread with a little jam, well Rob got me a glazed doughnut today and I ate it At least I know how many calories were in that baby and I'm willing to take responsibility.

My cat, for some reason, absolutely loves the crumbs from those blueberry muffins, she got a hold of the wrapper the last two times I had one and was going to town. Today she was frantic trying to find it, I felt a little guilty! Not guilty enough to eat a 500 calorie muffin though!
