I was wondering if any of you have done either Tae Bo or Leslie Sanson's Walk Away the Pounds videos/dvds and if so which would you recommend? Would they be considered cardio or something else?
Which would you recommend to someone like myself whom is very out of shape(just starting out) and has around 140 lbs to lose(yes you read that right 140 lbs)?
Also I don't have very much room to work out in. I would say about the size of 5 feet by 5 feet.
I haven't done Walk Away the Pounds but I hear really rave reviews about it. In fact, I'm on collage video right now ordering one.
Tae Bo is fun but difficult for a beginner and I have super long legs and I would need a little more room that 5X5. It's a real sweat. i wouldn't say you couldn't do it but I wouldn't suggest it for someone just getting back in the game.
Haven't tried any of Leslie's tapes yet, however the ladies on here seem to swear by them! From what I've heard, they're great for people of all fitness levels...
As for the Tae Bo, I ordered Tae-Bo Cardio - did it a couple times and just found it way too hard - that was after working out at the gym for a month too. However, I believe the key is not to give up. It sure does seem like a lot of fun and I cant wait until I'm fit enough to keep up with it!
Let me know if you try anything Jen, and how you find it..
I did walk away the pounds-super fat blaster 3 minute mile this morning. I absolutely love it. It's more advanced than the 1 and 2 minute ones, but you can modify the moves and do it without weights which would make it easier. Then, you could build up to full range of motion and weights. I highly recommend it. I've done Tae Bo in the past, and it would be very difficult for a beginner. Good luck sister!
I love Tae Bo, and I think if you've never done it, to start with the Original Basic workout (the very very first one he ever did) - it's 20 min and has walking between the moves. I have the Live series, and the Basic one on that set is 2x as hard, and I have another 8-video set, and the Basic ones of that one are even harder yet. You definitely would want more than 5x5 space - even 5x7 would work, just so you have the room for front and back kicks. I find Tae Bo to be super fun, and if you stick with it, it (for me) totally changes the shape of your body, in addition to losing weight.
I have the WATP 1 and 3 mile tapes, and you could do those in 5x5 space. The 3 mile one is nice too, cause it marks the miles, so if you want to stop after 2 miles, you can.
I love the WATP tapes and would recommend them for someone who has just starte out on a fitness plan. Tae Bo is wonderful, but I agree with the others - it's too difficult for a beginner, and I need a little more space (I'm not coordinated enough to do it in a 5X5 space ).

I think WATP is great for small spaces. You can work with it to make it harder as you build yourself up by adding leg weights. Tae Bo is a fun workout and is hard! You do need space for it. So if your space is limited try WATP's I have 1, 2, and the 3 mile. I did get bored listening to her so now that I know the steps I put in a music cd and listen to that while I watch her for the steps. (just a thought)
The WATP tapes are easy to follow, and work well if you have little space. Adding the stretchy band and the weights gives you a great workout, but isn't necessary (sometimes I do, sometimes I don't). As Mez said, if you get tired of listening to her (and you will), then playing music while watching the steps works well. I've also watched Oprah while doing the walking steps, just so I'd be moving and not sitting.
Tae bo- I have the series. I tried it but I have no coordination and it was hard. The tapes are sitting down in my basement for our yard sale. If you want to try the first one I'd send it to you- better someone using it then sitting downstairs not being used.
