My pool does do an aqua-aerobics class, but it finishes at 9.30pm which is too late for me to walk back on my own, as I have to go down some very isolated footpaths to get there and back.
I do a few leg raises in the pool as that is the only thing i can remember from when I used to go about 10 years ago - but I get a few funny looks! My partner is unwell at the moment and doesn't go out much, but when he is better maybe I'll try to persuade him to walk me there and back! Amanda x |
You could also try jogging a few lengths of the pool too (don't worry about funny looks, to each their own!!)
I've got another NSV, me and DP were out shopping, and he said I don't waddle when I walk anymore, I strut...STRUT!!! I certainly didn't realise I was doing it  |
hey Katey!
I'd be strutting too if I'd lost 53lb!! ;) It's really good for me to know that both you and Claire, who are both avid swimmers have both lost really significant amounts of weight - it gives me real hope that if I keep doing what I am doing, then the weight WILL come off. I went swimming today again - might try the jogging next time! Amanda x |
Just keep at it Amanda, if you eat healthily and exercise you will lose weight and get fitter.
Swimming for me is something I enjoy, which is probably why I've been doing it so often, and it has helped me on my weight-loss plan. It's a bit of a cliche, but a true one I think, that if you enjoy something, then you are likely to stick at it. |
She's right, Amanda! Swimming and pilates are the exercise things I enjoy most......and I find swimming the easiest thing to build into my daily routine - if I don't go for a couple of days, I really notice. As Katy says - eat healthily, do exercise that you enjoy, and you will lose the weight.....not quite as easy as it sounds, I know, but just keep plugging away and it will happen!

I am so proud of you guys!!! WOW!
I am buying size 12 that fit comfortably, even in jeans. I am totally happy with that. The real NSV I had was over vacation. Walking in the morning with my mother in law (They met us on vacation 1/2 way through). She is a size 4 in shape woman let me tell you. We went walking and I am a really brisk high intensity walker (Which before, I could barely walk half fast). She kept telling me she could barely keep up with me! She could not believe the endurance level change since I lost weight and she told me that I am really looking fit! What a compliment. That made my day! |
Well done Gretchen, that must have felt great. It's little things like that, which are unexpected compared to fitting into smaller clothes, that make you realise how far you've come.
|
I have a small NSV. Today when I tried my Leslie Dvd again, i got to 15 mins and to the 3/4th of a mile mark! At 17 mins she starts the cool down, so I am hoping that by the end of the week, I can do the whole thing,.. if not this week, then definitely next week,..whoohoo. Remember when i started on Aug 12 i could barely do 5-6 mins? :-) Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Since I didn't see any movement on the scale this week, I thought I'd post something here to bring it back up to the front! :)
I had a nice NSV today. I was looking through my old fall clothes for something to wear to the office this week, and I tried on this shirt I wore a lot last fall. The second I looked in the mirror, I started laughing (and almost crying!). The very shirt that was tight through the arms and bust last year was just HANGING on me. In fact, what used to be three-quarter length sleeves somehow seemed to have morphed into extra-long full-length sleeves! It felt good, let me tell you. I used to say my big hammy arms were one of my least favorite parts of my body, and strangely, they've been one of the first things to go. Next step: just a few items of clothing that aren't sack-like (don't want to get too much, because I plan on shrinking some more!) |
I don't have a NSV just yet...but I just want to say CONGRATS to all of you!!! You are doing a terriffic job!!!!
|
I agree, very impressive everyone! I've gone down a size in trousers.
|
Yay! I love NSVs! Great job everyone! I have 2 amazing NSVs this month. Today I actually wore, for the first time since junior high school, SIZE 9 JUNIORS LEVIS 519 JEANS....
AND....... MY THIGHS DON'T RUB TOGETHER (AND GET ALL IRRITATED) WHEN I WALK!!!!!!!!! I **heart** Stairmaster! |
(1) I'm in a size 16 pants most of the time now (sometimes an 18 is better, but more often than not it's a 16!) (Down from a 26/28.)
(2) I bought two size 14/16 knit tops, thinking at $6.00 they're too good to pass up, and eventually I'll be able to wear them. I didn't try them on at the store, and when I got home I was SO EXCITED to find that they fit perfectly!! I swear they don't even fit snugly! :dizzy: (3) I got scared witless (and then jumped up and down joyfully) when my diamond commitment ring literally fell off my finger 3 days ago. (Guess I shouldn't put off resizing it any longer!) |
Congratulations, everyone! What wonderful NSVs! It's always so much fun to buy something knowing that sometime it will fit, then discovering it fits right now.
Speaking from experience, Sarah, you will need to resize a couple more times. I resized once already after I lost my wedding ring (and luckily found it in the lining of my DHs coat pocket three weeks later), then it fell off again about three months later. Now it's in a drawer waiting until the day I hit goal. |
Congrats Sarah! Those are great NSVs. I know how it feels to have your ring fall off. Mine kept falling off at work - I talk with my hands and kept flinging it across the room by accident. Have it sized so it's pretty tight. A month after I had my ring resized I had to do it again.
