Well I gained last month and I am totally not surprised. I am however down 2lbs since the 30th so that's a plus ... but I'm sure it's water weight. I am hoping to get back into the 170's this month and stay there. Have any of you tried the ilovethisdiet.com frozen food diet? or any frozen food diet? Just curious as to how you chose your frozen meals since all them have a ton of sodium. I did a frozen meal for dinner and a salad back in 2010 when I first started and it worked. For breakfast I had a meal that I prepared and I think I did a slim fast shake as my snacks, lunch was some kind of wrap I think. I wish I could find all of my old journals. I hand wrote everything back then.

Welcome to the group.

Hi everyone, let's do this.:carrot::carrot:

Martine 08-02-2017 07:32 AM

I have my last physio appointment this morning (insurance coverage is done). While I know my tendon will never be 100% healed, I'm content with the fact that I can walk again, and I'll keep doing the exercises that were prescribed to help prevent flare ups. Other than that, I'm happy to report that I have been active every single day this week, no excuses made. For example, yesterday I finished work really late but right after supper, David and I got out and walked for 35 minutes. This morning I did some pilates and abs exercises. Funny to say but I hate doing exercises on the floor, so I will not be doing those two workouts anymore.

Wishing everyone a great day!

Traveller 08-02-2017 07:39 AM

Thanks GulfMagnolia! Good luck with the 10K and your losses this month. One pound closer to Onederland!

Martine congrats and good going on getting the exercise in. I do it daily too and I think it makes a difference!

Have a great month everybody!

Good luck with your last appointment, Martine. This has been a long, frustrating road for you. I'm happy though, that you've healed quite a bit and made progress. Great job on getting a walk in after a long day AND after supper. That's commitment!

Rennie, I've never been a frozen food diet per se, but I did something similar as you when I was in the weight loss "zone." My breakfasts would either be oatmeal with fruit (fall/winter) or a homemade smoothie (spring/summer), either a salad or frozen dinner for lunch and a protein rich dinner. I would alternate so I wouldn't get bored. I was never concerned about the sodium or had a sodium problem, but I understand others might have to keep close eye on this. Also, this basic plan worked all throughout my weight loss. The only reason it stopped working is because I got complacent.

I have no doubt you'll get back into your old 10K :running: habits quickly, gulfmagnolia. No excuses but isn't a relief to see days ahead of you that are clear and you don't have to plan around?

 ennay, imthegoddess, Vladadog, VickieLou, RunningRedHead and Traveller

As for me, it's going to be a blistering :flame: day with an anticipated temperature of 105 degrees! :faint: I'm grateful every day that I work indoors in an air conditioned environment. Now that we've turned the calendar page to August, I can no longer deny that fall will be here sooner than I think. The university I work at doesn't resume classes until the last week of September but all the public schools begin near the end of this month. Hard to stay in denial when you see kids with new backpacks and all the back-to-school sales in stores.

Wishing everyone a great day!

curvynotlumpy 08-03-2017 04:24 PM

:sunny:Good afternoon

Not a lot to report on today. A busy Thursday with three meetings; actually, two down and one to go. :woohoo: This is the last day for one of our colleagues in our unit. She secured a tenure track position at a community college so we're taking her out to lunch today. :eating2: She will be missed. During her time with us she piloted a well-received Success Coaching program for students and worked with staff to enhance our student advising with coaching techniques.

This week I've been taking care of the two cats that belong to my friend who lives across the street from me. She's attending a conference while her son visits a couple of colleges in the area. I'm much more of a dog person but their cats are very sweet. One is playful and greets me at the door each morning and evening. The other stares at me from afar with the look of, "um, you're here to feed us, right"? Her son posts every day to Instagram so I take photos each time I come over that he can use and also see that their doing just fine. ;)

Hi everyone

Hope you are all having a great start to the month! I just keep plugging along losing little by little. I can't wait to get out of the 240's, and I'm halfway there :woohoo:
I can't believe it's already August... this summer is just flying buy. I have to admit I do enjoy summer but fall is my favorite time of the year! Even though I am eating low carb, I have already decided I will be enjoying 1 or 2 pumpkin spiced lattes when they come out. Anyway I am getting ahead of myself... LOL

Hope you all have a great evening!!!

suzukigirl here's to you reaching the 240s very soon. I too love Summer, I'm not ready for Fall yet.

curvynotlumpy love that you're taking pictures of the two cats you are caring for :) The classes sure start late at your university. Here they start the first week of September. We just got most of our back-to-school merchandiase at the store. Summer is just flying by.

Yesterday I finished work even later and I could not get myself to exercise. That'll be my day off this week. I'm almost caught up on my work after coming back from vacation. I'll be happy when this work day is done. Have a great day everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying a great Saturday. It started out rainy and gloomy but now the sun is out and there's a nice breeze. I "crashed" yet again and slept for 3 hours this afternoon. Despite feeling groggy and fighting to wake up, I got up and did my exercise for the day. I tried a new upper body workout which I quite enjoyed because it included moves I had never done before. So that's 6 active days this week, which I'm very happy about. I'm also happy to report that my physiotherapist sees positive improvements with my tendon and she gave me tips and other exercises going forward. Positivity is the word of the day.

 and happy Saturday!

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. After doing cat duty, I went and had my brows waxed. It only takes 15 minutes but it never fails to make me feel really good. Again, not a lot to report, but it was a nice day.

suzukigurl: I  Pumpkin Spice lattes, but :sssh:, although fall is my favorite season, I still have so much to do that when I think of those tasty lattes I also think of classes beginning. BTW, :bravo: on being halfway through to the 240s! You are doing fantastic :high:

Martine: :bravo: and :woohoo: on your consecutive active days! I don't know if I could have gotten right to a workout after a long, luxurious nap so well done, girl! And yes, classes begin so much later than most schools. Most of the University of California system is on the quarter system so late starts are the norm here.

gulfmagnolia 08-06-2017 02:02 PM

Still working on that 10k, such slow progress. Out of nowhere experienced a weight gain this past week. But I was doing everything right! Why, Gravity?! Spent 4 days trying to remedy it, to no avail. I was frustrated and panicked and grumpy. How I hate those random, unjustified gains! Finally said 'screw it' and enjoyed dinner out with some friends Friday, a burger for supper Saturday, and shopping. Surprised to find that I fit comfortably in a size 16 jean and also went down a band size in bras!!! This morning I found that gain gone away at last. Disappointed because it would have been more of a loss without slacking on the weekend, but glad I allowed myself to enjoy a little. Now moving on! I just have to be patient and persevere, no matter what the scale reports. Will be on liquid and soft foods this week as the wisdom teeth are coming out tomorrow. Hope you all had a great weekend

gulfmagnolia I think that sometimes we need a "break" to better restart. I think it's hard mentally to be 100% on plan 100% of the time. Hope the removal of your wisdom teeth goes well.

So I decided to weigh myself after a week of being active and eating healthy and there is no movement on the scale at all :( I'm not focusing on that, but it is disheartening.

This morning's cat feeding was my last shift until the 14th when my friend and her son go on vacation before he heads back to school. It's been an enjoyable week but it has really thrown me off schedule. Still, I did manage to lose half a pound this week. Martine and gulfmagnolia, I sympathize with you on the scale that doesn't want to budge. I hadn't weighed myself all week. I thought for sure I'd see something more than a half pound drop with all the extra movement this week combined with walking seven miles yesterday while I was out and about, but nope, hardly anything. My :eating2: this week has been pretty decent as well. I will continue to progress and not let disappointment bring me down! :nono:

gulfmagnolia: Congrats on fitting comfortably into the size 16 jeans! :high: Okay, I have to be honest; a bra size drop is a typical part of weight loss and I'm thrilled that you're down a band size. Unfortunately for me, when I went on vacation in early July I got fitted at Nordstrom and bought two very pricey bras that fit me beautifully! If I lose enough weight I still need them to last for a while so I'm wearing those suckers until it's obvious I can't or shouldn't. Wishing you well getting your wisdom teeth removed. I hope the process is entirely uneventful.

gulfmagnolia 08-06-2017 10:08 PM

Martine Thank you for that. I hate that you're going through the scale stubbornness as well. It is SO frustrating and SO unfair. I keep reminding myself that what my body does is none of my business. It's my job to feed it well, hydrate it often, rest when necessary, and exercise it. I just have to trust it and do my part. But it's MADDENING!!! Sigh.....You have been kicking butt all week! Don't give up. Remember that with exercise weight doesn't always instantly change but size does, which is what we're going for. Cheers to you for keeping at it, and for overcoming this tendon business.

Curvy There are so many clothes I want now but I'm making myself shop on clearance only and for necessities only until i have settled into a size for a long period of time. This will not be that size (I chant to myself as I step onto the scale, panic rising in my chest...) I immediately dropped from an F cup down to a DD but my band was the same for 40 lbs, until now. Finally an excuse for new bras! Now my boobies can't escape! I love Nordstrom (especially Rack) and I want to say about better quality bras that they should fit you better and more personally - hopefully that translates to 'over many sizes' :)

Martine 08-08-2017 09:50 AM

Good Tuesday morning. Thank you curvynotlumpy and gulfmagnolia for your words of encouragements. Still plugging along, but did not exercise yesterday because I finished work so late (again). That will be my day off for the week. Hope everyone is well and taking good care.

Greetings, friends

Wishing everyone a productive and peaceful Tuesday. I was off work yesterday and will be taking the next two Monday's off for my final vacation days. I seem to always be at my vacation max and while there is no set limit for when I have to use my time, once you hit the max, you can't bank any more. It's a unique 'use it or lose it' situation. I figured that by taking a a stretch in July and August will allow for a cushion during fall quarter when we all work large numbers of hours making vacation almost impossible.

Cooler evening weather has arrived which has made it difficult for me to want to get out of bed each morning. I envy you morning people!

gulfmagnolia: I'm the same way with my clothes. I have whole new wardrobe waiting for me as my weight drops. These aren't new clothes, just clothes I've outgrown. I haven't bought many new things at all but I was at a breaking point with my bras. Long story short, I was running around in two bras without underwire (and I like underwire). You might be wondering how I got to that point. Well, I had given up trying to figure out my bra size that I finally just picked up two bras that fit and weren't that uncomfortable. I didn't even care that one was light pink and the other periwinkle blue or that they weren't underwire :o. I just needed something and to appear that I was wearing something bra like under my clothes. During my vacation I decided the heck with it, I deserve and need new bras. Good ones, too! ;) So now I'm happy and comfortable and agree that better quality should translate to many pounds/size drops.

Martine: Rest days are good and needed for your body. Look at your consistency. You're :kickbutt:!

Good morning :coffee2:

Weight is up a couple of pounds as a result of some mindless eating. Work is also picking up as I have a number of different projects on my plate. :comp: No doubt the increased work and stress contribute to the bump up. What is really missing, and what I've been dancing around for a long time, is a commitment to a plan. Regardless of how legitimate, I cannot keep using work as my fall back excuse for why I can't get my diet and exercise aligned. There are world leaders, CEOs and folks with husbands/wives/partners and families that do it every day! Work will always be here. Their health is not an option but a priority.

In spite of my rant--and thanks for listening ;)--, I intend to have a good Wednesday and wish the same for all my friends on this thread.

Martine 08-10-2017 09:07 AM

curvynotlumpy I recognize myself so much in your last post. I too let work get in the way of everything. Right now I'm in a good phase, but I tend to stop working out and eating right as soon as work becomes more hectic or stressful. Hope you had a great Wednesday

So I'm still sticking to my plan (so far). I could drink more water though, but one step at a time. Yesterday after supper, we went on a long 45-minute walk at the park with Loki. My tendon and foot were bothering me by the end, had to ice it when I got home. It was simply a beautiful Summer evening, lots of people and dogs out at the park too.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning :coffee2:

Happy Thursday! My one meeting today was cancelled late yesterday so I have a full day ahead of me to devote to one labor intensive task that needs to get done today and a few other minor ones I hope to have time for.

Martine, thank you for your ongoing encouragement and kind words. Dear lady you are doing wonderful! I love how you're holding yourself accountable by tracking your exercise and including it in your posts. :yay: One of the things missing from my routine is not going public with most of my exercise. It wouldn't be so much for other people, but a way to be honest with myself about how much exercise I am really doing (or not).

Well done monitoring how you're feeling during your walks. Forty-five minutes is a good walk.

Wishing everyone a lovely day.

Martine You put my workout game to shame, ha! And I have no serious injuries (although I do fall down a lot....) Paying attention to your body after a workout is so, so important. Ice and massage are fantastic post workout! Most of us just plop down from exhaustion and forget to thank our muscles and joints for their hard work. Cheers to you for being proactive about your tendon/foot.

Curvy Thought of you today when I threw out a bra I had been wearing religiously. One side still had the underwire, one side did not hahaha. I was 'winking' for a long long time. At least, the boobies were

50LBS DOWN TODAY!

Martine 08-10-2017 06:12 PM

gulfmagnolia I almost spit out my water laughing at your "winking" lol
A huge :bravo: on being 50 pounds down! :cheer2::cheer3:

On a side note, anyone experience the joy of doing floor exercises and having your dog come and lick your face non-stop? Sweet Loki, taking advantage of the situation ;)

curvynotlumpy 08-11-2017 03:44 PM

gulfmagnolia, we have a ;) emoji on our interoffice messaging system except it is more pronounced than one on 3FC. How will I ever look at either again without thinking about your fantastic comment?! Such a profound visual :o

Huge :congrat: for meeting the 50 pound down milestone! :cp::cp::cp:

Martine: Loki sounds like such a wonderful dog. One day I hope to be a dog owner and will actively encourage that behavior. :yay:

Good morning :coffee2:

I hope everyone is having a beautiful and restful Sunday. The events yesterday in Charlottesville left me unsettled and I found myself doing a lot of thinking about many different things.

I'm off tomorrow :yay: so I decided to drop by work to do a few odds and ends that I left unattended on Friday. While I've been pretty active this weekend, this has been offset by some poor :eating2: and food choices.

Wishing everyone a great day!

Curvy & Martine So happy to provide some comic relief!

Martine Your furry workout partner sounds lovely. Oh how I miss dog kisses...That has to be the best encouragement in the world! I envy you

curvynotlumpy hope you didn't stay at work too long today and got to enjoy your Sunday. It sounds like you are picking up your activity level, good for you. Mondays off are a wonderful thing, have a great one.

gulfmagnolia sure furry kisses are wonderfullllll but when I'm sweaty and breathing hard, not as much...You are still dropping pounds left and right, a new decade!

So I was working this weekend for the first time since my vacation and being on my feet most of the day (on the weekends I am manager on duty), my left ankle and foot were killing my at the end of the day. So ice and no exercise sadly. Tomorrow I have off, I'm confident I'll be ok to work out. Hope everyone had
a nice weekend.
