boopchick that sounds like perfect napping weather. Enjoy your time with your son.

246 this morning. 3 pounds is more then a "slight uptick" I had a feeling it would be way up when I was guzzling water before bed. Not stressing about this which is good.

Ubee 07-16-2017 10:24 AM

244.2 this morning. 1.2 to go to get back to my low.

Ubee 07-17-2017 09:26 AM

242! We are doing this!

Ubee 07-18-2017 06:33 AM

Slight uptick to 242.2
Kinda quiet in here.

LauraRVA42011 07-18-2017 08:33 AM

Hey all, so I had a bit of an uptick that I think is due in part to my exercise increase. I've added weights and reps to my strength training and my running intervals went from 3 minutes to 5 minutes. I'm feeling muscles lately that I've not noticed before. As well, I did eat off plan this past weekend but nothing like I did in June when I had all my family issues. My clothes are fitting better and I actually tried on smaller clothes that almost fit, so I know I'm shrinking. It's just the scale that is not cooperating. I'm trying to stay focussed, but it is challenging when you think the 2-3lb gain is just water retention only to have the number barely budge after you get back on the water regimen. I admit I avoided posting the last few days because I didn't want to talk about it but I know it is helpful to do so.

On a brighter note, when updating my challenges with weekly weigh ins, I did lose a little from the week before, just not the huge drop I saw early last week.

Onward and downward!!

Laura just as an FYI humidity does make our bodies hang onto extra water. Feel free to do a search on it.
We had a couple cooler days and that is when my weight dropped.

FatDoesntDefineMe 07-18-2017 11:43 AM

242.6 this morning. A slight uptick, but I'm going to blame it on the weather and just getting back from vacation. I took Ubee's advice and now tell myself to do 2 reps of 15 squats before I shower. So far so good! What is intermittent fasting (I mean, aside from the obvious...)? Is it healthy? Will it help with my lifestyle change, or just an extra boost?

Ubee 07-18-2017 04:59 PM

FatDoesntDefineMe Fasting is very healthy. A scientist who did research on it won the Nobel Prize in 2016.

Be sure and do your research and find something that works for you. It is very adaptive to all types of eating plans. Best of all you can mix it up to suit your needs as they change.
Dr Jason Fung has easy to watch You Tube Videos. Also check out dietdoctor.com though they also do low carb.
Good luck. Any more questions just feel free to ask.
We have a fasting thread on 3 Fat Chicks though it is not very active but makes for good reading. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/gene...s-welcome.html

Hello! May I join you? I have been here a year ago and then fall and winter came (spring too) and I fell off the wagon big time and now I am back to almost where I started again. I found that posting was a big help on working and staying positive as a pound would fall off and definitely a help when I struggled and needed encouragement.

I'm a SAHM in the upper midwest in a small rural town. Love it for it's slow pace but the not the amenities I use to have such as an indoor pool, walking track etc. Bigger cities are an hour away in either direction. So I have to be creative for my movement.

I have three reasons I am trying to tackle this:

1. My littlest tells me I have fat elbows and arms (we are having many conversations on why we don't call people fat in any shape or form! I had the same issue with my oldest, but it was that I had a fat bottom). I was once told everybody hates a body part, when asked at the time I said my upper arms. The gal asked me if I could lift things, dance, raise my arms, etc. I said yes, she said get on with life you have the ability to move and enjoy your body. This was the bridal consultant I had, a wise woman in her 70s. One day I will fully embrace a sleeveless top.

2. I am tired of maintaining in this stupid 20 lb range for the last bunch of years. I want out.

3. I have a winter trip to Florida. I don't want to be the woman who looks at her pictures and turns the page quickly. I was heavy the last time I went. I told my DH if I reach my goal - I am getting a bikini. Crazy goal? Did I say I am older and truly not a bikini age? Who said what age you had to be.:o:o As is I am currently rocking my one piece as best I can.

Wishing you all a good scale day! Look forward to joining in cheering you all on.:broc:

Welcome Lemonthyme.
I wear sleeveless tops. Nobody gives me a second glance. I am done with shame and guilt.
Are there bikini rules? What happens if we break them? Do the bikini police but us in bikini jail? :drill:
Smile in all your pictures. You are going to love them 40 years from now! ;)
Let's all stay feisty and get down to a healthy weight!
I am with you on busting out of this decade and moving DOWN!
Glad to have you join us!

lemonthyme 07-19-2017 07:18 PM

Ubee: thanks for the welcome! I'm trying to get back to 239 soon enough. Things are always looser as I enter that range clothing wise. Well my arm hangup is my own - I look in the mirror and I see my grandma and an aunt. Different sides of the family but those same dear arms. The only time they looked good to me, I was swimming daily. Well I aim to find things that help as I go along.

AM: I've been dealing w an unending sweet tooth by eating watermelon and luck would have it I got a good one this last time shopping. I am 80 calories over my goal for the day. So not bad for gathering back to counting closely. Summer helps I tend to eat more veggies and fruit so I'm hopeful this time round that I can keep moving down the scale.

Does anyone have a go to snack that they have mid morning or afternoon? I tend to do almonds or a string cheese but always looking for something different to add or try that I bypass in thought.

FatDoesntDefineMe 07-20-2017 09:58 AM

Lemonthyme: Welcome! I am right where you are, I lost over 30lbs for my wedding, and immediately gained it all back. My go-to summer snack is cherries. I have a cherry pitter, so it makes it easy to portion them and bring them to work.

I have PCOS, so I need to keep an eye on my carbs, but my DH could eat pasta every night. Last night I found myself eating only the meatballs. I need to stock up on spaghetti squash!

I have a 4 mile hiking trail about 10 minutes from my home, so I have been pushing my DH to go there after work. It's 91 degrees today, hopefully the shaded trails won't be too bad!

Working my way out of the 240's

Feeling really good this week. I have been calling my food into a food sponsor every day since June 10th. It has been helping. I am down 9 lbs since I started. I guess I was ready to get serious. Expecting to be changing groups by the end of the month. Exciting times for me!

Ubee 07-20-2017 02:11 PM

Welcome Newby60!
Today finds me at 242.2? I think. It was early and before my coffee.

lemonthyme 07-20-2017 07:55 PM

Fatdoesnt: Oh love weight! Yep been there too! You feed each other newly married, it happens. That's nice you can get your guy to go walking w you. Mine by the end of his commute is usually never interested! But maybe I can encourage him to walk around our little town.

Newby: good for you! It's a nice feeling seeing the scale move down Too often I have gotten discouraged with it going on up. Do you find it helps you stick to your diet with the reporting? Are they coaching you to try different things as you go along?

Ubee: yeah for you! I had my coffee and then weighed myself. Oops. We had horrendous rain last night and kids who didn't do well w lightning and thunder. Therefore this mama was tired and forgetful. I do better weighing each day. If I don't I "think" I'm sticking to it and in the end go up. Best to weigh daily at this house.

Hello all!

Am: well I'm doing ok today. My weight isn't down huge amount only .2 give or take w the coffee ingestion. Tomorrow I will try to keep a clear and focused head to stand on the scale first thing and get a new reading.

I'm just working w calories right now. I'm doing PT and haven't been told I can jump feet first back into exercise. So I hope weight loss can continue even in small bits. Not that my exercise is super great (stationary bike) but when I do it I move some. I just wish I could find something that piques my interest and holds it w success. But I think that's part of this journey. My last time w big loss swimming was my helper. Here's hoping!

Best wishes for good scales!
