I am back home and weighed this morning. To my surprise, I was down a pound!
I have some of the swelling that I normally have when traveling, so I expect to be down another pound or two after that is gone. I am relieved and excited. I had been reading Gary Taubes' book "Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It" and decided to follow his principles while gone in the hope that I would not gain. Basically, I avoided carbohydrate-rich foods such as bread, pasta, potatoes, and sweets.
I have been eating a lower carb diet for a couple of months now. I have been keeping my carbs at 150 or lower. Since this past week went so well, I am going to experiment with lowering the carbs more. I think that I will stay at 100 carbs or below this week to see what happens.
Thanks for listening!
