Pain and exercise/activity

  • I am so excited to have begun physical therapy this week! I already wrote about it on my blog, but I want to encourage anyone who feels limited by PAIN to give it a try. For years I have felt like it was hopeless. My knees are shot, arthritis, weight, bone spurs, damage meant I just could NOT do what other people can do to lose weight. I CANNOT run, jog, use most exercise machines, I can't even walk more than 2 miles a day and that's a stretch for me. Pain.

But the physical therapist has given me new hope! He is telling me that if I can spare 15 minutes a day to do certain exercises to strengthen my knees and hips, I WILL see improvement and while I will not ever be able to jog or run, it is well within the realm of possibility that I will end up walking and hiking for many more miles than I can now, and doing other things as well!

So don't give up. If you hurt when you try to exercise, feel limited by pain, or injure yourself every time you exercise, get to a physical therapist! It might change your life! I have a feeling it will change mine
