I've shrunk!

  • Actually, I think I was just mistaken about how tall I was...

I took a pen and marked my height on the wall and then used a tape measure to find my height. I looks like it is 74 inches which would be 6'2 and not 6'3! This makes me feel a little better about my previous decisions to lower my goal weight.

Now I'm going to have to go back and re-program my BMI calculator on my excel charts

This may lead me to reduce my goal once again when I get past this 180 bar. However, with added muscle I might just keep the goal where it is...who knows.

But I'm definitely not as tall as I thought I was!

Anyway, the weight is coming off very slow and that is fine with me. It might be another month or so before I'm at 180. The top of the "normal" weight for someone my height is 194 pounds. So I'm still in the normal range right now.
  • Oh Matt, you are not that old you're not shrinking yet
  • Haha! That happened to me! I thought I was 5' 6", then I measured myself against a wall (and had six other people measure me), and I'm barely 5' 5". I had to readjust my goals and everything. Irritating, but not too bad. Only I don't have many inches to start with, so I'd rather not lose them.

I'm glad this new discovery fits in with your goal to lose more weight. It's nice when things work out like that.

You've done AMAZING so far, by the way.
  • I WAS 5'6. For years I was 5'6 when I was measured at the docs. the last time I made them do it 3 times because they said I"ve shrunk an inch. They said it was my weight.

  • I swear I use to be 5'5''. My friend's
dad measured my height because my
friend swore she was taller than me.
He said I was barely above 5'5''.

I went to the doctors about 6 months
later and they said I was 5'4''.
  • Haha, I somehow managed to get taller the last time I was measured, despite not growing in any appreciable way but width for a decade. I'm just going to assume it was a measuring anomaly and keep my height at 5'2"
  • I posted about this a couple months ago. I've shrunk 2 inches. I was 5'9, now I'm 5'7. I went thru a hysterectomy at 20 and now I'm 40, so that's probably why i've shrunk. I had to recalculate everything, too.
  • Hey Matt - do you think you may have lost fat tissue in the soles of your feet? Or lost a layer of fat from your skull?

This is gonna sound really weird. I GREW!!! For a very long time I was 5'4". A year or so ago, I was measured at the doctor's office and I was 5'5". I had them check and recheck. I guessing here but I believe the weight of an unhappy marriage slumped my shoulders so much that I couldn't stand fully upright. After the divorce two+ years ago, I am standing straighter and taller.
  • At least you are still over 6' tall! I would hate to get any shorter than 5'2" so I think that I will play ostrich and just not measure myself!
  • My husband always said he was 6'3, turns out he's 6'2 as well.

You guys are just used to stretching the truth!
