I have Crohns disease so while at my regular apt. with the Dr. last May I told her I was unable to lose weight. She told me she wanted to check my thyroid. Simple blood test...it showed I had hypothyroidism. She said my numbers were very high making the metabolism not function right. Anyway, I started the replacement meds and lost some weight right away. I knew it was fluid because my legs were not as painful to the touch anymore.
I got to thinking I wonder if I tried again to diet and exercise if I could lose weight? So I started counting calories and walking. I lost a lot at first real quick. Then it got to where it was coming off at a more normal pace. Each week I lose anywhere from 2, 1, .5 or none. Some weeks I may gain 1 or 2 Lbs. but it usually comes back off again. All these months it has been a downward spiral. I am calorie cycling now. It works really well with me. I eat between 1200-1600 calories daily. And I walk or use Leslie Sansones walk at home DVD.
Also be sure to keep a journal of your weight loss. Date/ weight. A few day's ago I got to thinking that I was not losing very good so I looked back at the dates and weight and realized I'm not doing too bad after all. I weigh daily and I really see the weight move up and down and it makes me think I am not doing good. But then I notice on the journal that each week there is a loss.
I'm thinking about maybe starting to weigh once a week- then I won't be so sad to see the ups and downs daily.
Keep us posted on your journey!!!
