Unhappy Headache...

Day 2 and I have a horrible headache. Usually, I live on Dr. Pepper. I haven't had one in about 3 days. Do you think my headache could be caffeine related?

It could be.

I'd find me a diet soda with caffeine and see if it helps, but that's me

I think it could be as well. Like Shylah said, one sure way to find out is to get some lo-cal caffeine and see if it does the trick!

No need to drink soda if you need caffeine, even diet, aspertame is HORRIBLE for you -- why not have a sip of some tea and see how you feel.

I would definitely second audrina! The aspertame is horrible and can be very addictive so if you try to quit diet it is twice as hard! When I finally quit soda tea was the only thing that would allow me to function throughout the day.

Thanks for the replies. I'm a little leery of switching to diet soda. I'm afraid of just trading one addiction for another. I've never been a tea drinker. Right now, I'm waiting to see if Tylenol will knock it.

Don't go to diet soda, it causes you to gain weight and what not as well and the side effects of the artificial sweetener just aren't worth it. Try tea or coffee, switching was pretty easy for me, I LOVE drinking tea now.

You might want to try taking an excedrin migraine pill - when i quite caffeine I had horrible headaches, and took just one of those (1/2 dose) because it does have caffeine in it and a pain reliever.

It might be the SUGAR withdrawal from the soda. I'm heavy coffee drinker but if I don't get it for some reason I get jittery, but no headaches. I ALWAYS get massive ice-pick headaches when I'm coming down from a sugar high. Time will tell...it could be plain old stress, or not enough fluids in general. Hope you feel better soon.

When I gave up diet coke it took me three straight weeks to get over a low grade headache all the time. Of course I'm back on it now and I'm afraid to go through that again...

Yes, it sounds like caffeine and/or sugar withdrawl to me. If you stay strong it should pass in a few weeks of cold turkey and you'll feel much better. I switched from diet pop to coffee to get away from the aspartame without a major caffeine withdrawl at the same time. Now I've replaced coffee with green tea except for my morning cup. Little by little. Hope you feel better soon.
