I've lost a grunt

  • For a couple of months before I re-started on May 24th, I discovered I'd developed a grunt when I got up from the settee. A bit like a weight-lifter doing the Clean and Jerk. A bit like Venus Williams serving (oh for a body like That!)

For at least the last week, I've noticed it's gone, getting up is not the huge problem for my poor old knees that it was last month. (Additional info: I genuflected at the altar yesterday, and for the first time this year, it didn't hurt.)

No expert, it's partly the 10lbs lost, every little counts, but I think it's also to do with the diet - I'm following a low-carb programme: lots of good food, absolutely no artificially de-carbed stuff: and I genuinely think it's helping my joints.

Starting Day #22. I'm Glad to be Gruntless!
  • I'm so happy for you my friend. Already you are starting to see major benefits from adhering to this healthy lifestyle. Feels good to be *back in the game*, doesn't it?!?!?!

Looking forward to hearing much more good news from you.
  • Your plan is called from Pig 2 Twig, I think? .....

Sounds as though you're on your way! Don't know what sounds twigs make. Graceful rustling maybe.
  • Ah yes... the grunt!

To be rid of it is a very big accomplishment-- and as a fellow sore knees girl, I'm sure your knees are thanking you! You are doing terrific and I admire your incredible tenacity!

It's called 'Neris and India's Idiot Proof Diet' but when people have mentioned just the IDP part of the name on here, it got confused with the really freaky idiot fat loss one, so I've been calling it by it's forum name, which is Pig2twig.co.uk . There's no fat people bashing in the 'pig', just a recognition by the authors that they (like me) ate themselves fat, it was no-one else's fault. And there's no drive to be ultra twigskinny either. So far so good.

    Thankyou! My knees feel wonderful!
  • This made me laugh. I totally get it, too! It is funny how we have such bad habits when we're heavier and out of shape. It was almost an Olympic event for me to get out of my low seated couch. Now, not so much.

  • It's wonderful how the benefits of eating healthier begin to accumulate right away. We don't have to get all the way to "thin" in order to feel better! I'm so glad you're seeing results, and congrats on sticking to your plan.
  • LOVE TO HEAR THIS!
  • Congratulations! This gave me a smile; I remember the grunt! I used to grunt every time I had to haul myself out of my car or pull myself up a flight of steps.

Twenty two days is great; I'm so glad for you!
