100 lbs. milestone song

  • So today in my WW meeting, they all gave me a round of applause for hitting the 95 lbs lost mark (technically 96) and someone piped up and said that they would have to play a song when I reached 100. This stems from the experience of another regular member who said that when she reached her goal weight, she wanted marching band music to be played, which our leader did for her when she recently made it to that point - everyone got a big kick out of it and of course the lady was quite pleased. Anyway, they asked me what song I wanted and of course I couldn't think of one off the top of my head.

I doubt they'll actually do it since I didn't make a thing of it but it got me to thinking, what would be a good song to mark this milestone? So for those of you who've already made the 100 lbs lost mark and for those of you like me who are working towards it, what song would you want played for you?

One that did pop into my mind afterwards was 'Don't Stop Believing' by Journey (thanks to Glee) or maybe the song from Rocky.
  • the first thing that popped into my head was Europe: The Final Countdown
  • Three very good song choices! Not sure it's WW appropriate, but how about "Don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me" or whatever it's called.
  • My personal weight loss theme song is "Defying Gravity" - originated with the musical Wicked, but done really well and more theme-song-y by the Glee cast.

But then, I'm a musical theater geek. Still, the lyrics really speak to me, particularly:

    Something has changed within me
    Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules
    Of someone else's game

    and

    I'm through accepting limits
    ''cause someone says they're so
    Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
  • Nina Simone - Feeling Good
  • "Something to Believe"- by The Bravery.
  • First off, yay Lesley! The first song that popped into my head was "Uprising" by Muse. It really pushes me when it comes up on my workout playlist. Love "Something to Believe", too, as renstwin suggested.
  • Quote: My personal weight loss theme song is "Defying Gravity" - originated with the musical Wicked,
I absolutely love that song! One day, I hope to see Wicked. Tickets sold out quickly when it came to Atlanta.

So...theme song. You could go with something zany like "U Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer.
  • One of my favorite strut it out songs . . .

    Brick House!

That would really liven up a meeting!!!

Of course, I like the line "she the one - the only one- built like an Amazon" cuz I'm a bit on the lonnnggggg side.

Also... AWESOME JOB on your weight loss!!!!
  • I'm of no help on the song choice. That is such a fun idea though! Congratulations on this milestone. Let us know what song you choose and how it goes.
  • I like this the Dixie Chicks EVERYBODY KNOWS

Tell me now if you came sneaking up behind
Would you know me and see behind the smile
I can change like colors on a wall
Hoping no one else will find what lies beneath it all
I think I hide it all so well

Stepping out, everyone can see my face
All the things I can't erase from my life
    Everybody knows
Standing out so you won't forget my name
That's the way we play this game of life
    Everybody knows

I used to feel like I was hiding behind my fat a lot, and now, it's like I'm stepping up and saying HERE I AM!!!
  • How about The Weight by The Band. Take a load off Annie....
  • Some great song ideas!

I have a bunch of songs on my MP3 player that have certain lyrics that fit but not the whole song - like the other night I was running and Christina Aguilera's 'Stronger' came on, which is a song about a cheating ex (I think) - so yeah, not exactly weight-loss related.

    But, I love this part:

    I am a fighter and I
    I ain't goin' stop
    There is no turning back
    I've had enough

'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
    Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
It makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

How can you not feel like you're kicking butt when you hear that?
