I think accepting how far you have to go is a not-insignificant part of committing long-term.
I know how hard it can be because I was downright scared to weigh myself at first (scared just to admit my weight to myself!) I didn't, for the first few weeks. And then of course, I discovered that my "starting weight" was 25-30 lbs more than I'd guessed. But I was in it, then. The only thing that was different for me over the last year and a half was that I stayed in it.
