Lewis Bakeries has a brand called Healthy Life Dieter's Dream which has wheat sandwich buns that are very healthy. ( http://www.healthylifebread.com/prod...n=6&category=1 ) Unfortunately, they have a limited market area. Has anyone tried this specific brand? Being a diabetic, I am always on the lookout for low cal/lo carb breads. At the moment, I use Orowheat Lite 100% Whole Wheat Bread for sandwiches and hamburgers. Luckily, I can get Orowheat Lite at my local discount bread store for less than half the regular price. I also just made my first order of The Perfect 10 Bagels from Western Bagel and Nature's Grain Lite English Muffins from Sam's. Both orders were online purchases as they are unavailable in my local stores.

I am not familiar with thintini so I just checked it out on the Web. In appearance they remind me of the Arnold's Wheat thins. I am sure they are good but I wanted a bun so that I could have the feeling of real hamburger. I just want a cheeseburger every now and then. :)
With the bun it is a real cheeseburger. :) Light wheat bun - 80 calories Laura's lean beef patties - 160 calories slice of 2% American cheese - 50 calories lettuce onion For about 300 calories a real cheeseburger! The one I had last night was soooo good. It totally satisfied me and fit within my calorie allowance. I was planning on having one a month but I don't think the buns will stay good frozen for months. It is bad to buy them just to eat one or two. |
Maybe you can split a pack of buns with someone?
If you have a big freezer (not the one on the fridge), you can put the buns in individual ziplock freezer bags, make sure all the air is out and they will keep for a long time. |
