Help! Scale Problem!

Today is my one month anniversary of starting a new way of eating/exercising.

One month is really good for me and I have been rewarded by losing 12 and a half pounds.

This morning, I got on the scale, certain that I'd be the same or less, and I was up three pounds.

I've noticed that my home scale will weigh a pound of two different if I step on it two times in a row.

I KNOW I shouldn't let it bother me, and I've been pretty good about tolerating the one to two pound up and downs, but three pounds up on my one month anniversary felt like a bummer.

Should I get a new scale, or just suck it up?

Suck it up, step away from the scale and pat yourself on the back for a whole month of fabulous consistency :)

Now that you are preening over aforementioned fabulousness ;) go out and get a new scale. When mine was giving me varied results in a 30 second period it made me nutty too. Go get a new one - BUT dont let today's result sway you! Cos as previously mentioned - you are doing fabulously!

Is it a digital scale? Are you weighing on a flat surface?

It might need new batteries if it is a digital scale.

First off: :congrat: CONGRATS!! WOOT!! :congrat:
My scale will give me varied results 3 or 4 different times. I take the first two matching numbers and use that. Now, if you've done the scale boogy (on, off, on, off, adjust the scale, on, off, etc.) and it still says up 3 pounds, don't stress. A salty dinner, snack or soda last night could attribute to the additional pounds. If its almost TOM or is TOM you may notice some higher than useual numbers. Or it could be the way the moon is aligned with the sun or earth or a particular star's position. J/K of course. Point was it could just be one of those unexplained bodily occurances.
And since you know you've been sticking with the eating/exercising, I agree with Danni. Go out and buy yourself a new scale as a great reward for your self. Then take your old scale and have it meet the hammer or some good ol' concrete!! That'll teach scales to add pounds! Muhahaha!
Again, WTG on the weight loss!

Congratulations on getting to one month!

As for the scale....if it's a digital make sure you keep it in the same flat place and it has a new battery. That should help :)

Congratulations, that is fabulous weight loss and your consistency is commendable! I agree though, if it is not the batteries and it has been giving you consistent results before, just chalk it up to your body retaining water and keep at your hard work :)

Thanks everybody! Turns out I

1. Didn't get discouraged.
2. went back down and lost half a pound to boot.

I think it is the battery. It's not too consistent-- I can get on it, then get on a minute later and it will go up a pound.

but the great news is...

I DIDN"T GET DISCOURAGED.

YAY.
