Default Kcal and calorie....probably a dumb question

I just got back from the E-Mart (Korea's Wal-mart like store) I went to get some fish, fruits and yogurt. (Go Me!!)

But the thing I wanted to ask is ...Is what is listed as a kcal the same as what the US calls a calorie? I am assuming it is but I am just checking to make sure.

So...how dumb was this question???

Yep, it's the same. A USA calorie is actually 1000 "real" calories.

Not dumb at all. I only learned it in high school biochemistry, and had forgotten it to be honest, until I started shopping in oriental food stores and import markets (most of the rest of the world uses the "correct" term).

Yep, they're the same thing. If the package lists joules, though, they're different.
