Default Start thinking about those NYRs...

Okay this is NOT a thread to post your New Year's Resolutions.

But I do want you to start thinking about them! This is your meditation time...

For those of you who made them last year (on 3FC), check out 2007 here and 2008 here!

What are some of the things that lead you to choose your resolutions?

Are you good at keeping them? Why or why not?

What's the best resolution you made? What's the worst?

It looks like I didn't make them for 2008 (I seem to remember I was in El Salvador at them time).

For 2007, I seem to have a habit of biting off more than I can chew for a resolution. It's like I have these big dreams and I want to acheive like 25% percent of that dream to be happy so I make the dream REALLY HUGE. That's just not working for me. I need to rethink that strategy.

I think the best resolution I made was to do a triathlon.... That worked out really well for me.

Wow. What an eye-opener. I posted in both resolution threads and here I am...still struggling.

I'm not really very good at keeping my resolutions. They aren't unrealistic, I just don't seem to follow through. I didn't really have any worst ones or best ones. But, I did see a few people on there that did meet their goals. That give me hope.

Wow Jessica, that was incredible. Looking at all those faces/resolutions from 1/2 years ago. Noticing that some people I was used to seeing have not updated in a long time... wondering where they are. But the real jaw dropper for me was seeing RockinRobin's post on Dec 20 2006 that she weighed 218 pounds. OMG. I mean I KNEW, I saw her pics before and read her story but seeing it there like that, I thought, WOW, that can be me. I am close to that weight now. I can lose all this weight and keep it off and be a success story too.

Whoa!! That 2007 thread was a trip down memory lane!! I read Robin's and Lisa's resolutions and thought about their fantastic accomplishments...

Time is a funny thing. It passes no matter what we do or don't do. Where do we want to be in 1 year? 2 years?

My resolution for 2007 was to finish that book, edit it, and submit it to the contest. I did all those things. I wanted to do a similar thing in 2008 but I didn't. A whole year gone without moving closer to that goal.

BUT, I did it in 2007 and I can do it again. Sometimes we can find strength in looking at our previous successes. We have all had some successes....losing 10 pounds, walking a mile, running a marathon, climbing a mountain, finishing a triathalon.

Let's all find a way to build on our successes from previous years....

I don't usually make resolutions, at least not serious ones, because I think, "Why wait to make a change?" I'm thinking about making one this year, though. I was in the car and a song came on about walking 1,000 miles to see someone, and it made me sad because I wished I had someone I loved and would walk 1,000 miles for. Then I thought that I DO have someone. Me! If I walk 1,000 miles in 2009, that would work out to about 3 miles a day, which seems reasonable. Walking is one of my favorite ways to get exercise. I don't always walk, and sometimes my pedometer doesn't work right and record my steps. I dunno. This would be my first serious resolution in a long time.
