I am new here and am looking forward to getting myself back to a good weight. I have lost weight before (almost 70 pounds!) and gained it all back over the past two years... I'm not sure why it all came back but it was a slow process. Hubby and I had together lost almost 120 pounds (him 50 and me 70). He has maintained his loss and I haven't. In Nov 2005 I was down to 192 and felt incredible - I could cross my legs and I could easily run several miles. We even ran a half marathon in May 2005. Then I got busy finishing my doctoral thesis and went on the job market (and got a great job) but that process was very busy and stressful which meant I put my eating and exercise aside. Slowly since July 2006 I have gained weight back. My first year of teaching was stressful and I spent all my time working and let my eating go. I kept going to the gym but wasn't expending the calories like I used to. Instead of running two miles I now walk a mile.
So now I need to get back on the bandwagon and straighten up. I saw a picture of myself a month or so ago and was mortified and how big I looked. I have lost the definition in my face and have re-aquired my mulitple chins... I need to get back on track. I feel sluggish and achy. I know that being smaller will improve that! My hubby is very supportive but he is on maintenance and I have to learn that I can't eat like he does.
So I plan to get down to 175 (in high school I weighed 175 and wore a size 11 and looked great) I will re-assess when I get there and see if I need to lose more or if that is my ending point. I plan to keep a journal and will keep tabs on my calories each day. I will get more exercise in and will push myself in that - I KNOW that the running was good for me and is what really helped last time.
I am hoping that I can get some encouragement here and that by reporting to you how I am doing will keep me motivated (and honest). Here we go!
