Default Baking! Ugh!

It's that time of year again. Time to make pies, jams, jellies, preserves, freezing, etc etc before all the final harvest goes bad.

How am I supposed to stay on the low-carb straight and narrow when I have to bake for 6 hours a day for the next week? It's not that I can't resist the temptation to nibble - it's that I *have* to nibble in order to make sure whatever I made isn't missing something or tastes like crap.

I'm so conflicted!

My only advice is going to sound like a no-brainer...

Count it!

For every 5 tastes Count it. Weight Watcher's give yourself a point. Calorie's count 50. Low Carb, again count the 5th nibble.

Then after 5 drink an 8oz. glass of water. This will help two-fold. One, cleaning your palatte. Two, help flush out any residules. Oooo, three, if your struggling with hydration ... You'll be good to go!

How about chewing some gum when you are really tempted? Popping some baked goods in your mouth doesn't mix well w/ gum.

That is something I've always wanted to learn to do. I'm stuck with the store bought stuff.

I don't bake hungry. I make sure what I am not planning on eating (the pies/cakes) have a good home to go to before I start the project. I make sure that the rest of my meals are low in carbs and high in veggies for the rest of the day. And if it comes down to it, I plan to be at the gym for a bit longer.

Absolutely, you can bake. It's just not permission for you to eat all those goodies by yourself!

Thanks guys. My stomach wasn't too happy with me. By the end of the night, I'd made mozarella, two pies worth of dough, four pizzas worth of dough, and two loaves worth of bread dough. It's all sitting in my freezer. I still have about 70 pounds worth of apples to turn into apple sauce, apple pie filling, apple butter, apple this apple that....AHHH! Oh, and I need to make more pie crust.

I like the idea of counting every 5 nibbles. I think I'll do that.
