Hitting a Plateau

  • I'm only going into week 2 of my ww at home and have read alot about people hitting plateaus. So I want to get the lowdown before it happens to me. I know each person is different but how far in to weight lose does it happen, how long does it last and what's the best way to deal with it quickly?
  • A plateau can happen at any point in WL. It's time can be long or short. I had one recently last 2 weeks. I had surgery and that seemed to snap me out of it. Other times I will up my calories a bit. (with healthy foods) or I would change my workout. Look at your salt intake. Also TOM really can play a game with me. The main things is not to give up. Your body is just getting use to what is going on. I'm sure there will many post that explain better than I. Kudos for looking ahead! Oh yea it helps to keep a good food log that can also give you insight. If not you someone here.
  • I had a plateau that lasted about 6 months. It sucked, really, really sucked. No inches were lost, no weight loss. I changed up everything (I was doing WW at the time) - ate more, ate less, exercised more, exercised less.
I ended up kind of giving up and gained some weight back. Then when I got my head back on straight - I have been losing steadily. I don't know how much longer that plateau would have lasted, and I didn't have the patience to stick it out. Now I will, I know that I just need to keep eating right for life - and plateaus happen.
Mine happened after about 1.5 years and I had lost 75 pounds.
I highly doubt most people have plateaus like that LOL!
