Default Can I Do It?

I work with the YMCA and I saw them handing out pamphlets for a 5 K walk/run Reindeer Rumble for Campaign for kids. I'd have a month to prepare. It'd really give me a chance to walk through my holidays. I usually use WATPs as cardio(lately I've been doing 3 miles). I know I can walk 2.4 miles in an hour at a comfortable pace with hills(I did that a week ago). Either way, my entry fee will be going to a good cause.

Do you think I'm ready for it?

A 5K is 3.1 miles - you are already doing it! What a great Christmas gift to yourself and the kids.

You're already doing it!

Even if you have to walk some of the way, who cares? You're still doing something amazing for your body, and like you said, the entry fee goes towards a good cause.

I say go for it, girl!

I realized that but the 3 miles still kick my butt.

I couldn't run it. I'd have to walk it. I have a bad knee and running makes it worse. That's the only thing that drew me to it was cause it said in bold letter, "WALKERS WELCOME."

The thing is I'm afraid that 3.1 miles may be very different than a 3 mile walk away the pounds with Leslie. :O.O I just don't want to fail. This would be my first thing like this and I want to know that I could rock it. I never imagined 5 years ago that I would WANT to wake up on a Saturday morning and walk 5 k. I think mostly I want to do it to empower myself and such.

I believe you can do it. If you are concerned about making it...ask about the route and try it yourself a couple of times before the race. I bet you can find out where it is....This will make you more confortable with it!

Good Luck...us Chicks will be rooting for you!

I think the race course is a horse racing course. Cause it mentions Keeneland which does that(I personally have never been to Keeneland.) I want my mom to do it with me but I don't want to be on a team with her. She walks too fast. I basically have to talk about it with my mom at the least so I can bum a ride from her on that day. Lol

No room for doubt or second guessing yourself girl, there is no "think" - say "I KNOW I am ready for this!" Mind over matter (and I have more matter than I care to admit right now ha!!) and it's up to us to keep our "matter" in line!!! Just think of the great feeling you're gonna get when you finish that, that sense of accomplishment, and how proud you'll be of yourself! Oh no girl don't allow any room at all to second guess this, this is for you and only good can come out of it; let it be a first start to an even healthier you!!!!

Sweetie, if you're walking 3 miles, you can walk 5kms. They're virtually the same distance.

Don't worry about turning it into a race - just take your time and enjoy yourself!

You can definitely do this!!

Personally, I find it much easier to walk 4 or 5 miles than to do the WATP DVD's of the same length. Even if I'm booking it (14 min. miles), the walk is easier.

Don't doubt yourself, go for it! Go to mapmyrun.com and map out a 3 mile walk, then get out there and start preparing. This is absolutely within your grasp, you can do it!!

I think I'm going to do this. This is really getting out of my normal activities. Going out on a Saturday morning to walk. I'll be so nervous cause it'd be something new for me. Now, I just need to talk to my mom about it.
