You know, I didn't have trouble that way, but on Wednesday, I had a really bad off plan day with some fairly rich foods and REALLY suffered for it the next day. So, I guess it can happen when you make a change in your diet, whether for good or for evil!
I have digestion problems if indulge in a high-fat meal when I've been eating pretty healthy. Another thing I've noticed is that I can not eat any foods that have Splenda as a sugar substitute, my stomach just can not tolerate it at all. Equal is just fine for me on the other hand. Are you using any new to you diet foods which may affect you like that? You may need to bulk up your fiber intake as well. Good luck with it and hope you feel better soon.
more fiber will make it worse. dont worry about it, hun. take some immodium and ride it on out. itll happen periodically through this journey. especially at first. im going through it again right now. slow the fiber down a little and just try to tough it out. itll go away after a few weeks.
Any significant change in your diet can upset your GI tract for a few days. It'll pass, and you'll feel better for having improved your eating habits. Fair warning, though - once you adapt, you have just as much of a problem going back! I find my body really gets angry with me if I eat something greasy now - stuff I used to have no problem with now makes me very ill! (I just use it as a reminder of how unhealthy it is - my body's actually rejecting it!)
melekalikimaka - I'm so glad to hear that someone else has GI issues in response to Splenda! I've noticed that I get very bloated and sick for a couple days if I eat something with Splenda and avoid it at all cost (which makes it problematic when my fiance's mother slips it in without telling me!). On the other hand, aspartame (nutrasweet/equal) isn't a problem for my stomach but tends to trigger migraines. (Needless to say, I tend to avoid artificial sweeteners!)
I had issues for several weeks when I first started changing the way I was eating...then things started getting better...slowly. Now, Dr. Oz would be proud! hahahahah So hang in there, it will get better!
I had the opposite happen! I cut the fat out so quickly, I think my innards went into shock! Then I got fever blisters! I've never had fever blisters! I wonder if it's all a part of getting rid of the junk we had been eating? I'm sure your bout of troubles will pass. Keep eating well-balanced meals and drink water. Make sure you are getting enough fiber, but don't over do it.
The Splenda issues are interesting. I used it for a long time, and just recently bought a store brand of equal. Some of the belly issues I had are gone. I never thought that it could be the Splenda.
it probably has less to do with what you cut out (high fat foods) than what you are using to replace them with.
I've always had diahrrea often my whole life. At some point recently I figured out that if I didn't eat any bread/noodles/wheat products I wouldnt get it anymore.
So perhaps you are unwittingly eating more of a food that you have digestive problems with?
