My dear friend and host mom (long story) goes to he Metabolic Research Center for her health needs. Yesterday she wanted to go right after we worked out and I told her I didn't mind going with her so she could be on time. When it was her turn to go in, she said I could go back with her so I did. I observed the interaction between her and her director and then they went to weigh her. Gina told me I should come see the really cool tanita scale they have. When she was finished the lady (Suzie) asked me if I wanted to be weighed and I was like, "Ummm not really but it looks cool so I'll try it". It printed out a little receipt and here is what I learned.
I am 41% hydrated - most people are 20% or less and women my age are supposed to be at 45% - She was very impressed.
111.25 lbs of my weight is "good" stuff like water, muscle, organs, etc. I'm more than 50% good - hooray!!!
And because I'm such an athletic build my goal weight should actually only be between 140-160; not 125 that the government standards say for my height.
I don't know if any of you are in the area of a Metabolic Research Center but you should call and see if you can have a tanita read for free to better determine what your "situation" actually is. It was very encouraging and has gotten my excitement rejuvenated!
