Default A little activity incentive ...

Not sure if anyone has posted about this before (I usually hear things way after everyone else, lol), but I wanted to share a little incentive for those trying to get out there and be more active. I was introduced to an app called “Charity Miles”. I am about to try it out on this evenings walk, but I believe sponsors send money to designated charities for every mile you walk, bike or run. It’s a simple download, sign up, select the charity from the options, and go. This evening I am selecting M J Fox Parkinson’s Foundation. I’ll let y’all know how it goes, but I thought it sounded pretty cool. Certainly can’t hurt, right

Say you can't walk a mile all at once....if you walked a 1/4 of a mile 4 times a day, does it still count?

Hmmm, good question. I imagine you could do that and still be okay. I'm going to see if I can find out...

Thanks for the info...will check into it. Along those same lines, if anyone does zumba, there is a zumba app that donates to a hunger charity when you check in to a class

So I tried it out and am reporting back. Super easy to use. You literally just hit start to activate a timer, and hit stop when you are done, and then finish to submit your time (you can switch to track by distance if you prefer). Simples. You can walk, run or bike, and select a different charity each time. Tomorrow I'm going to walk for Autism Speaks. I mean its probably just pennies, but everything helps, and I'm thinking if lots of folks are using it then it can't be bad.

Thanks for the Zumba app tip Straightahead, will check it out!

I'm going to check it out. I'd like to do it, but I want to make sure the little that I do still helps.

What a great idea! That definitely is a helpful incentive. I just downloaded it, I will be looking into it when I go out later. Thank you
