Default Help! Son's B-day Party Today!

How will I ever make it through today without eating the wrong foods?! My son is turning 5 today and we are throwing him a party tonight with pizza, cake, and ice cream. What can I eat and still have fun with everyone else. I LOVE pizza and I LOVE birthday cake and I LOVE ice cream! Oh dear what will I do! Sorry everyone I'm kinda having a stressful day as you can probably tell. Not to mention I won't have time to exercise today and I also didn't have time to yesterday because I was out buying his presents and party supplies. I guess I'll really have to buckle down tomorrow and start fresh.

Just a suggestion here, can you get a veggie or plain cheese pizza too and just have a couple slices? Maybe decide on cake OR ice cream or eat just a taste? Maybe have some air popped pop corn and veggie tray out so you can have something to munch? I don't really like cake and ice cream but pizza! I can eat half of one if I'm not careful.

Eat a full, healthy meal right before his party, so that you're already full when the kids are eating. Then you can have a bite of the things you like, but you won't end up devouring them because you won't be hungry.

I agree, no reason to throw away the day, that's how we all start gaining the weight back. You don't have to come through this perfectly but every temptation you avoid is lbs you aren't regaining, so don't give up on the day.

My suggestion would be to let yourself have some of the cake, some of the pizza, etc-- then go out for a little extra exercise this evening, eat just a little less tomorrow (if it will make you feel better), then just go on with your plan as usual. One day of over-indulgence won't make a difference in the long haul as long as you don't let it mean more than it really does.

I've written this before but I think it still applies- when we were gaining the weight we didn't eat badly and fail to exercise every day. We managed to eat the odd salad here, and go for a walk there. But because we maintained an unhealthy lifestyle, those good days didn't impede our gain. Now that we are maintaining healthy lifestyles, a bad day here and there shouldn't impede our loss.

Skinny, healthy people eat cake and pizza too, just not as often as we used to.

I agree with sierra, eat a full healthy meal right before the party. That will fill you up some and help you fight the temptation on eating some cake & ice cream. If you do happen to eat a little cake & or ice cream, don't beat yourself up over it and just continue your weight loss plan after the party.

I think I'll take a bit of everyone's advice. I'm going to pickup a veggie tray when I pickup his cake and we are going to have some plain cheese pizza because not all kids like pepperoni. The other Mom that's going to be there might appreciate this also. I may just have a little cake and no ice cream. I have an elliptical that I can use after everyone leaves and tomorrow I can go back out and do my walks. Thanks everyone!
