What a great thread!! I have no idea..my list is rather small right now...

What works:
-Getting up early in the morning. It helps me stay active all day and sleep well at night.
-Eating proportionately. Not binging (which I'm SOOOO tempted to do, most of the time)
-Eating fresh foods and whole grains.
-Baking and cooking from scratch.

What doesn't work:
-Omitting baked goods. I'm a baker...I enjoy it...so...I do everything from scratch...and share.
-Not excercising. Just doesn't work. I'd be lying to myself if I said it did.
-Listening to the little voice in the back of my head. I can't let me get to me...I'm very good at self-sabotage. I can't allow it.
-Procrastination. No really! It doesn't work. lol I'll explain why later.

I'll have to keep adding to this as I learn what does and doesn't. Thanks for being here.

Ooooh I've been thinking about this for a while! I'm having a good week so far, so I will share with you things that I am coming to realise!

Things that work:
Kickboxing
chicken and cottage cheese (and other lean proteins)
weightlifting
weighing every 3 weeks or so
chocolate (every now and again in moderation)
Batch baking protein pancakes, protein bars and freezing them (there's always something healthy to eat then!)
Fitday
Almonds (have just discovered these!)
Drinking lots and LOTS of water
Running little and often instead of burning out with just one long run a week.
Eating a cookie when I feel like one
Caffiene - espescially before a workout
Filling up on Salad
Trying new food
Getting plenty of sleep
Dancing round like a lunatic!
Using the bathroom on a different floor
Cooking all my chicken and veg for the week - so there's no excuse for "not having anything healthy to eat"

What doesn't work:
Being too restrictive with my food
Bingeing at the weekend (as a result of above)
Thinking low-carb is the only way!
Listening to my inner fat chick - I CAN do jumping kicks, I CAN make it through the weekend without bingeing, I WILL be a svelte bride!
Worrying too much about what other people will think (if I refuse a scone or get a salad or insist on going to Subway rather than MacDs!)
Comfort eating
Having Ben and Jerry's in the house

I think that's it for now...

What does work
  • Fitday.com - without it I have no idea what calories I am putting into my body
  • Accountability - telling all that I am eating healthy and exercising
  • Healthy Snacks Available - at my desk, in my home, in the car
  • EXERCISE - I feel better and it helps how my body looks
  • Simple Math - what goes into my body must be less than what I burn out
  • 3FC - this place is amazing
  • My family/friends support

What doesn't work
  • Strict rules
  • Trend diets
  • Trying to do it all the first day
  • Thinking I can 'wing it'
  • Dieting in secret
  • "Healthy" desserts - I just don't know portion control
  • Negative self talk
