Default Going to an "all inclusive" resort

I leave on Sunday for a week in Cuba...

worried about undoing all my hard work. Will avoid desserts and carbs and try to stay with fruit/veggies and lean meats.

My main worry is the booze! I really do like those sweet creamy concoctions like Pina Coladas etc...

white wine spritzers may not cut it for me.

and once I've had a few drinks my resistance wears down and I want cheesecake

Any tips? or please wish me luck!

Just as you limit carbs, limit your drinks. Have one a day with your evening meal. Don't give yourself permission to go all out because you will regret it later! Moderation is the name of the game!

Maybe set a time each day - no drinks before 6PM, for example? I know its awfully tempting to get an early afternoon (or even morning!) drink while relaxing by the pool...

Don't restrict yourself so much that you aren't having fun!

So are piles of fried, sugary foods I'm sure...are you going to eat them all as well? Of course not. It's just alcohol. Enjoy the trip without the empty calories and ill effects.

You can have pina coladas any time. If you're hungover, won't that get in the way of exploring Cuba? Try making a list of pros and cons. If it's worth it to you, then have at it

Figure out your current maintenance calories and then calorie count! I would give myself maintenance, but no more- and don't forget to count drinks!

Oh my! I am so jealous! A trip to Cuba sounds wonderful! I think you just have to go with your gut on this one. If you eat and drink too much you know you will have to pay the price.

I say enjoy your trip. If you can watch what you eat and moderate your drinks you should do fine. Bring a scale if you want to weigh yourself each morning. If you gain then that day eat light.

My opinion only but I don't love the food at all-inclusives but love all-inclusive resorts because I never have to take out my wallet and don't have to leave the property. It tastes acceptable but nothing to rave about like here in Chicago. I go away for the ocean, weather, and scenery. I had the time of my life; I did a ton of walking/swimming, and lost several pounds while there. The resort was HUGE. I ate because I had to and not for sport so it was a win win. I stick with light beer and simple mixed drinks. I don't do the thick, creamy stuff so that helps too. Also when it's 80-90 degrees I don't have much of an appetite.

I guess all I can say is be mindful a bit and do a lot of walking. No point in stressing about it.

We go for round 2 in November - Sandals Montego Bay! Irie Mon!

Pick one nice meal a day, behave the rest of the time. For example, breakfast:eggs and veggies, lunch a salad and dinner steak/potato veggies. Include veggies every meal. Try to have a beverage every other day. You want to enjoy your trip but not indulge constantly. You will feel terrible anyway if you do. Take advantage of all the awesome activities to get your exercise.

Breakfast shouldn't be a problem at all... as I don't like sweet pastries etc... I will have cereal and fruit.

This resort has 5 ala carte restaurants so I am going to eat in them and avoid buffets.

lunch will probably be the beach grill which has chicken and burgers... will have the meat with no bun and veggies/fruit.

Desserts I think I can avoid, they are pretty icky in the caribbean to my experience.

My main concern is just when on holiday I like to drink! blah... will do my my best.

Well, I have great news! after a week at an all inclusive I weighed in at 172.8... a 1.4 pound LOSS!

I ate pretty well, no desserts at all. lots of fruit and veggies... I did however have some pretty nice rolls/breads with butter - their bakery goods were so nice I could not resist!

Did lots of swimming and walking... so I guess I offset those carbs
