I clearly remember my routine for shopping day last year. For years had been picking up a bucket of fried chicken, Mac& Cheese & biscuits for family treat on shopping day. We live in the country so fast food was rare. Of course sauce on the chicken as well. I usually had a "large" mac & cheese, 3-4 biscuits and 2 breast & a drum stick- all washed down with Coke. My stomach would never allow that these days.
Then I started my diet- and switched to the grilled chicken (skin & sauce still) with cold pasta salad (mayo) and Homemade Gluten-sugar free cornbread. Yes even wit all that I lost weight. (100 pds so far),I had all I wanted-but by 6 months ago this was very small servings-1/2 cornbread (less butter on it )
Today 100 pounds later, but now thinking health as well as loss I had 2 homemade almond "healthy brand" chicken strips fried in olive oil, and a bowl of romain lettuce hearts with a healthy type -Gluten Free videlia onion dressing and water. I savored every bite (no TV was on like in the past) and was every bit as happy with it as I was the fried chicken meals of last summer.
I don't feel deprived one tiny bit. I feel amazed. Can this be me? I don't recognize me at all. My DH & I are actually talking about the merits of different lettuce varieties! This Gabriel Method-mindful eating really works.
